Merged Poll thread and this thread.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

All the terms in my signature seem to be pretty good.
Satanist, Baby Eater, Arrogent, Militant and Lazy are some stereotypes and lies I have easily found.
Got any more?

I've indirectly been called all of these things, because I'm sure I've seen youtube videos internet sites and so on where atheists have been called all these things.

Personally directed to me though, I've been called satan, chief satan and so on by muslims in school, which I was really proud of.  I've been called arrogant and Darwinist, by Muslims in an Islamic forum.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

The biggest one I get is that I somehow deserve everything bad that happens to me.

RE: Stereotypes of Atheists
Having been a theist in the past, as an atheist I have been called a backslider, lost, difficult, vain, non-conformist, angry at life, possibly mentally ill, going through a rebellious phase which years later redegenerates as a midlife crisis. :-)

Of course, I totally disagree with her viewpoints, but she's not an asshole she seems like a nice person, and not a troll.
Strong Opinions?
Not meaning to stereotype, but I wouldn't think someone with those sort of strong opinions would join an Atheist Forums.
I would think it would be more likely they would think it would be a sin to read in these forums.

why would i think its a sin to discuss with atheists ? i dont think even christians think thats a sin . stereotypes of atheists are that all atheists are openminded or all atheists are closeminded . a stereotype is anything that you attribute to all members of a group of people .

The only thing I can remember hearing in real life were jokes about being the devil, but it was more light-hearted than insult. I'm sure I've heard worse, but large parts of my life are fairly fuzzy.

I've been called everything you can think of and more either directly or indirectly here on this forum. Hooray for online evangelism.

I voted for all but baby eater. To be fair though, the only one I've been called in person is angry at god.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

RE: Stereotypes of Atheists
Oh yeah, I get the "do you worship Satan" one a lot, in real life. I don't get it so much online, which is odd, now that I think about it. Maybe it's easier for that kind of silly nonsense to slip off the tongue than having to see it in slow-motion as you write it on a screen? (Then again, that would rule out much of what is posted by theists, here.)

Perhaps it's a Southern cultural thing, since they're taught to see everything as the battle between God and Satan... thus, anyone who is anti-God must by definition (theirs) be pro-Satan. I have definitely heard preachers call us servants of Satan, in various forms, so I suppose it's not a huge leap in their minds to "atheists worship Satan". Grrr.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
