Christians of Color

RE: Christians of Color
Like Chris Rock stated, though humorous also true: If you are black and Christian, you must have a short memory.

You could probably ask the same question about the rest of Europe while it was being conquered by the Roman empire which is pretty much credited for the spread of Christianity if I remember rightly.

Plus I don't see it as being Christianity that oppressed anyone, it just happened to be the religion of the people doing the oppression, a lot of the first abolitionists were Christian.  People of colour, like anyone else, are oppressed by people in a stronger position who want their resources.

It's a good question though, I did wonder while I was working with people from Africa in work why it is they have such an unquestioning belief in the bible and a pretty aggressive stance against homosexuality.
Just because some people were abolitionists it doesn't mean that they weren't just as racist as the slave owners were.  Some people wanted to abolish slavery because they saw that slavery deprived white people of jobs.  They had no intent on having the freed slaves as their neighbors and best buddies.

Black Africans are generally insane with some being more bat shit crazy than the other ones.  But they are all nuts.  In comparison about half of the people in the rest of the world are nuts.  So if you are in a room with another person chances are one of you is crazy.

Popular culture is very effective in brainwashing people.  Typical examples include movies that depicted whites as superior to the indigenous yokels.  In Western movies the white calvary spoke to the Indians about the Great White Father back east.  In African jungle movies the blacks worshiped the blond woman as a goddess.  Superman was the ultimate example because he was a white guy from across the galaxy with super powers.  And of course Jesus and God were white along with all of the religious characters.

When our troops occupied foreign countries they took their racism with them and made the locals even more racist than what they had been.  Meanwhile blacks and Indians had been brainwashed into believing that their salvation was dependent upon a white Jewish zombie.

The whole situation is a perfect example of group insanity in action.

All these statements are incredibly vague and none of this really means anything with regarding Christianity.  If you're going to judge people back then by todays standards than the vast majority of them would be considered racist.

Saying that it was a religion that oppressed black people would be like saying it was guns, chains and ocean faring that oppressed black people.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
