Indeed... I'd take seagulls and a sandy beach any day.
The human woman in the picture is in the way of my view
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

Judging by your first post, I assumed that you would have us believe that these 'judgments' were misconceptions. Are you now admitting that there are Muslim societies who practice the atrocities that have been presented to you?

mo3,I judge Islam like I judge any other religious faith.....superstition.
A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

i dont know if they are lying or not but these are crimes what does that have to do with islam? why didnt she use her right to get divorced or refused from the first place if its done in the name of Islam it means nothing as its not the rules of Islam.

I do not believe the women has that choice to wear the covering or not. You say no one forces them, yet we can sit here and watch youtube videos all day long showing women being arrested and harassed by the authorities for just that reason. They get stopped for "too much ankle" showing. The women are beaten, jailed, killed for refusing to wear or speaking out against this forced dress code.
Do I really need to post these videos? Elio posted an excellent video of a woman who escaped a muslim country and is telling of the abuses against women for such superficial things as walking outdoors without a male escort or showing too much ankle. There are many of these women who can be found telling of their captivity in Islamic countries.
Who are we to believe? You here spouting "That is not true!" or the countless women who have escaped captivity and all sharing simular stories? neither believe me nor them find the Quran online and check the verses i quoted by yourself

am quoting from the Quran not from youtube
Quote:Does every Muslim live in such a country? No? Then you are using a specific situation to refute the 'misconceptions' about Islam in general. It doesn't work that way.
most of muslim countries doesnt apply punishment for not wearing hijab as there is no punishment about not doing what u have to do as a muslim
Quote:There are a lot of people lying about this then. Or, you are naive enough to think that the behavior of people you know equals the behavior of all people who share similar beliefs with them.
next time u c a woman wearing hijab go talk to her dont get information from youtube

Except in all countries applying the Shariah law, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Sudan.
And in most muslim countries (especially in the Gulf Arab states), there is a huge amount of societal pressure on women to wear scarfs or hijab.
There's two notable exceptions: Turkey and Tunisia.

Did you see me quote youtube? I did not. However, I will say that youtube can be reliable, especially when the videos in question are of victims. Youtube videos can be used as evidence in a court of law. Can the Quran? Shit, now that I think of it, it probably can. Creepy.

Again, you say most, not all. Your argument is pointless now. Nobody here has said all Muslims are abusive pricks. However, your original posts indicated that you expect us to believe that none are. You made an absolute statement and are using a less than absolute argument.

Again, I did not get any information from youtube. You must have confused me with one of the other inferior females in this thread. I forgive you. I know you're not used to being able to make the distinction.

I do believe that some members have dug up quotes from your holy book that say otherwise. Furthermore, you mentioned the distinction between societies before I did. I assume you are going to say that your beliefs are the only true Islamic beliefs in the Muslim world. How predictable that you would feel that way.

Could you explain to me how a state could apply the sharia only in some places and not look like a hypocrit ?
Don't forget Sudan and Nigeria. And we'll have to add Somalia if the islamist rebels take over the country.
Anyway those countries make up to 150 millions muslims, but I guess they're all misguided ?

Quote:THE QURAN ON WIFE BEATING
Below are 6 English versions of the Quran verse 4:34. This passage lays the foundation for wife beating. I provided all these to show their similarity. These translations are all from recognized scholars. I have corrected some archaic spelling. My comments are in [ ] type brackets.
Men are superior to women on account of the qualities with which God has gifted the one above the other, and on account of the outlay they make from their substance for them. Virtuous women are obedient, careful, during the husband's absence, because God has of them been careful. But chide those for whose refractoriness you have cause to fear; remove them into beds apart, and scourge them: but if they are obedient to you, then seek not occasion against them: verily, God is High, Great!
