That's pretty much how I feel...

Quote:...my mom introduced me to a spiritual healer and teacher named Pat Longo. After just one session, she told me that I was suppressing Spirit’s energy, which caused a lot of my anxiety, and helped me learn to channel Spirit through my chakras and release it with my words. I began to heal and come into my own.

I find this really frustrating.  What say you?

I got the boot from a facebook group for merely asking a skeptical question.

It was a group for fans of the TV show Grimm and someone had posted a poll about people believing in supernatural things and one of the responses you could check was "Yes, there has to be something out there"  I asked in the comments something like "why must there be something out there?" and a shitstorm ensued resulting in me getting banned from the group.

The thing is: I never once made the categorical statement that there WASN'T anything supernatural out there, I just asked the question WHY must there be something? and people lost their shit.

I fought my way back into the group as a matter of principle (they ain't gettin' rid of me that easily, the fuckers!) and have been largely inactive since.

I should just quit the group.

The lesson learned was: People are gullible idiots* and overreact when their precious beliefs are threatened in any way.

* I feel okay calling people gullible idiots because I, myself, can be a gullible idiot at times.

RE: Long Island Medium
A couple of years ago, I decided to go to one of my favorite sushi places which happens to be in one of the local Indian casinos. As it happens, I couldn't stop myself from sitting down to a ten-dollar Blackjack table. I won about $2500 on a side bet, and decided to treat myself to a beer. Then, I decided I wanted another, but because I limit myself to one beer if I'm driving, I went to the front desk to see if I could get a room (I used to go there a lot; I usually have a comped room), but they didn't have any available. I asked why there weren't any rooms on a Tuesday night, and the lady at the front desk told me it was because of the show that night, but she wasn't sure what it was. Bummed, I decided to sit down for a couple of more hands before I drove home.

There was this really tall dude sitting there, and I got to chatting with him. Turns out, he had driven his mother over five hundred miles so she could be there to see Theresa Caputo's show. At first, I was angry at the dude for enabling her, but he told me he always accompanies her to this kind of thing because she's mentally ill, and he's afraid she'll do something stupid.

Those "psychics" who feed of of grieving people are evil.

Howard Stern made fun of one such woman on his show. It was hilarious.

John Edwards is another such asshole.

Asshole is not strong enough a word, though.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Unfortunately, you cannot legislate against gullibility.

(Just bidding on a water diviner! Hardly used! Only $500! I can't believe my luck!)
