Evie, after having repaired hundreds, I can tell you with reasonable confidence that it's hardware.
Either LCD driver is bad or as the others have also said, either ram or HD or motherboard.
You need to confirm the overheating issue first.
If you want to confirm LCD, plug in a monitor and bypass the onboard completely. IE, not simultaneous.
Use it like that for a week. But you really need to open up the notebook and inspect it.

OK, it looks like the WiFi driver is corrupt or the onboard WiFi chip driver is going bad.
Others users have bypassed the bsod by plugging their nic cable instead of using WiFi.
If it works, you may have to uninstall the WiFi driver from windows.
In fact, it won't hurt to uninstall and reinstall the driver first in case it is software only related.

If you are using Intel Pro Wireless (use the task manager and see if you can see it running in the processes), it seems that updating that driver fixes the issue on a lot of laptops.

Problem on answers.com there is they all give different advice so I'm scared of doing the wrong thing... I followed one of the links one of them are suggested and it said to be careful and make sure I don't fuck things up basically. (not in those words).
As for the other article it suggests to go to my manufactuers website.
Hmmm I am on windows 7 with a dell Laptop how do I basically just reinstall whatever driver I have? Where do I find my current Wi Fi driver?

I have just gone into the control panel... into devices and printers... the "DELL PC" had a big yellow triangle...
An option to "search for missing driver" was there. I clicked it.
It then asked if I would like to install the missing driver! I said yes!
Then after about a minute it said "Installation failed".
And now it says: Broadcom USH doesn't have a driver.
