This thread is full of awesomeness!
Judas Priest is my all time favorite though. You haven't lived until you've heard Victim of Changes and Hell Bent for Leather live. My gods are Metal Gods! https://youtu.be/ODlzOyNFXtQ
I've never seen Priest, but I saw Fight open for Anthrax at a very small venue.
I just replied to the previous post, but realized I neglected to reply to the OP...
I love hard rock and heavy metal; however, I have to understand the lyrics without a crib sheet. This means I don't get off on 'Cookie Monster' lyrics (I believe John Cena coined the phrase). Constant machine gun bass drums is only slightly less annoying. I differ a bit from Thump in that I think Megadeth is the best of the Big Four (btw Thump, Seasons is my favorite Slayer song). I think Pantera was the best metal band out of the 90s. I love Stone Sour, but think they were underrated because they never overcame the Taylor/Root 'side project' tag. I got to see Saxon at B.B. Kings Blues Club in Manhattan this past summer, such a fucking treat. These guys sell out arenas in Europe and I only had to share them with maybe 1500 people. John Bush and Armored Saint opened. I moved to Orlando last month and thought my days of easy access to the bands I love was over, but I scored tickets to see Maiden in Ft. Lauderdale next February. I had to travel to Houston last week and ran into Eddie Trunk in the Orlando airport. He's taller than what I assumed from watching his show. He was immediately standoffish; however, he warmed up nicely once he realized I wasn't fawning nor about to ask for an autograph or picture. My musical contribution to the thread? 80s hairband metal gets a bad rep because of the stupid ballads that were popular and record companies forced into the albums so 14 year old girls with disposable income would purchase them. But, there's a lot of good hard driving rock from those bands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6bYlXDx_ak RE: Who all here enjoys some good ol' Metal?

But if we're talking metal, let's talk Hell's Jazz Band. Check out the breakdown at 2:15 ... you'll never hear swing so heavy, or heavy swing so much:
Another slice of jazz/metal fusion:
