I knew what I was I just said "not a theist" however I will admit that being able to use the term has made me a bit more combative, shall we say? Being a preacher's kid that can be fun with the ill informed ( good thing I stopped believing in evil years ago or I would have to lump myself in that group)
Thanks everyone
The two preachers kids around when I was growing up (brother and sister) were fun. They had the best sense of humor. Didn't take themselves (or their dad) to seriously.

It took 3 weeks reading and making some posts in here to get me to say I am an atheists and be in fights about it on Twitter. LOL Thank you for completely freeing me. It means so much
How much reading do you do? If you have not read the following here is my list of must reads.
1. The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins
2. God Is Not Great, the late Christopher Hitchens
3. God, The Failed Hypothesis, Victor Stenger
4. The New Atheism, Victor Stenger
5. The End Of Faith, Sam Harris
6. Letter To A Christian Nation, Sam Harris
7. Infidel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali
8. "2000 Years Of Disbelief" James Haught.......
I am sure others can add to that list, have others I still want to read.

Hi Qwest, happy for you in your new-found sense of freedom. I'm also glad that you're in a situation where you can be free to express your lack of theism.
Enjoy it!

Good effort. Heartwarming news to hear a deconversion testimony as we near the pagan holidays.

Good list! Also:
9. The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark by Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan
10. The Bible: A Historical and Literary Introduction by Bart Ehrman
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Had already ready 1, 2, 3 and 5 as well as have watched almost every YouTube video by Dawkins and/or Krauss that there is.
That is why I have known I didn't believe in god for years but I just couldn't cross the hurdle of using the word. A really good thing to suggest to new people is a documentary called The Unbelievers. It is basically conversations with Dawkins and Krauss.
Thanks so much for the others!
