Apparently they have captured at least one of them....I imagine we'll find out what the motivation was.

This is heart wrenching. And the worst of it is: those at the far left will scream for the eradication of all firearms. Those on the extreme right with claim that the only solution is to arm everyone. Those in the centre will call for tighter restrictions on who has access to firearms. And after all the piss-fights and the breast beating and the flag waving...nothing will change. In a week or a month or a year, the scene will be repeated again. And again. And again. All because America as a whole has a huge, throbbing boner for guns, and any attempts to make sure they stay out of the hands of dangerous, unstable people is viewed as 'unpatriotic'.

Fuck. How do you LIVE like this??

Being on a watch list doesn't mean you are guilty of anything. Denying a constitutional right just because some government dip shit suspects you smell funny isn't right. Really, if they think you are a fucking terrorist they need to pick you up and interrogate you.

Quote:The GOP-run House has not held any votes on major gun control measures since the killings of 26 children and adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., did not respond directly when asked Thursday if he favored barring people on the watch list from buying guns, saying, "We are just beginning this process of reassessing all of our security stances."
The National Rifle Association signaled this week it will oppose Feinstein's bill, as it did those before it.

There are already a fuck ton of gun control laws on the books. Why can't do they need more laws when they don't enforce current ones worth a shit?

Good question. I don't even know my own country anymore.

Part of what's freaking me out the most right now is reading the comments on the media coverage. People are already making jokes and politicising gun control. We have gotten way too cynical and way too accustomed to this business in the States.

Also, I know it's still taking place in SB, and I live just south of one of the biggest Marine bases in the country, so I should be used to them, but every time I hear a helicopter or a siren, it's making me nervous. I'm "safe" at home, but I have loved ones out there in the world.

While the SB shooting was being covered... I guess little gem got lost in the shuffle:

Another shooting. This time at a Texas Women's center.

Quote:In the midst of the San Bernardino mass shooting that killed at least 14 people and injured at least 14 more, we have reports of another shooting death. This one is at another medical facility, Clinica Hispana, which is a women’s clinic in Houston, Texas.Houston police have confirmed one death but have not confirmed if the dead is a victim or suspect.

This, exactly. I don't understand how this extreme polarization and sensationalism has happened. It's almost as if people are enjoying it. Is it our access to social media? That we have a voice now, instead of being passive viewers?
I actually read this comment today in response to a friend's almost gleeful blow-by-blow account of today's events: "I should move to California. Nothing ever happens in Arizona".

I hope all of your people are safe.

Will you stop selling fear yourself! This is the shit that sells more guns. Making less guns, banning big clips and spray weapons is no different than not allowing monster trucks on public highways. Now I defy you to show me where in that statement I said "ban all guns".......Nobody said take away all guns, but we do have a flooded market and you are right we do have a huge boner for guns, THAT is the worst part, far too many people worship guns as if the gun itself was a human with rights.
