Agreed. People get way too upset over what other people believe.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Maybe but I don't think anyone was getting shrill. There is a reason for you -Cathy- to avoid claiming the existence of God to be an "objective" truth. We all get that you hold it subjectively as the truth. For you it even counts as knowledge. But to say it is an objective fact is to imply you have the argument or evidence which should persuade any impartial observer of the fact. This I don't think you have.

I am calm. I was not using caps to 'shout' I was using caps to emphasize a point that she was missing. I am not mad at C/L, or anyone, I actually have a good amount of respect for her.
Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?

Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.

There is God and there is man, it's only a matter of who created whom

The more questions you ask, the more you realize that disagreement is inevitable, and communication of this disagreement, irrelevant.

I do believe it is fact though. If I didn't, I wouldn't believe in it. I do have evidence for myself, but this is not evidence that I can show to other people. So I don't try to convince/convert anyone and I don't debate about it. People can believe what they want, and it doesn't bother me if others don't agree with me on the existence of God.

And I to you. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oh that's good, I'm sorry for misunderstanding you.

It's only because the entire post was caps rather than specific words, that it looked like shouting to me. I'm sorry. I'm a bit of a socially inept cunt at the minute.

I don't think you need to apologize sweetie, it was me who made the mistake here.

But, feel free to apologize... I won't discourage you. But for what it's worth, I don't think you did anything wrong. Nor did Heat. I'm jumping in when it's none of my business with my socially inept bullshit lately.

I'm having a very good and happy day overall today, but at the same time I need to admit what a twat I'm being lately.

But I don't think "objective" is simply an adjective to be thrown around for emphasis.  There are plenty of other good ones to choose from which are less misleading.   Sleepy
