Well what it is is that I haven't lived with my family in almost 2 years, so it's already been cut. But the rest of my family are still living with my mom (apart from one of my brothers)... and I haven't seen my family very often for almost 2 years... so since they are all younger than me and some of them are still growing up (the youngest is 15), I am not sure what presents any of them would want because a lot of their tastes and interests may have changed in the last 2 years.
So basically my mom is helping me pick some presents for them because I don't want to disappoint any of my siblings with presents that they would have liked in the past but aren't interested in anymore, because their tastes may have changed since I lived with the family.
...and then after my mom's left I'll go and buy a present for her: Her tastes haven't changed and she's easy to buy presents for... she appreciates any gift and likes surprises.

Well according to a lot of folks here, my mom was abusive. She apparently abused me by teaching me Catholicism.

I do. I have my moments when I wish that things had turned out differently. We got to travel together, once. I saw a woman that I wish I had known growing up - someone open, willing to talk to anyone, cheerful and bright.
Ah, but she was also a raving fundie who took "if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die" and tried, many many times, to disprove it. She beat the ever-lovin' crap outta me constantly, then decided I had turned out wrong and threw me away completely. I haven't seen her for . . . 27 years. I'm not allowed. So your post made me ache, Brian, and I'm very envious.

So, this raises the question:
if someone should be pooing, queefing, and peeing, and then they sneeze at the same time, will it turn their head inside out ??

My mom used to be my best friend. But she has never forgiven me for losing my faith. I have ruined heaven for her, so she tells me, and I think she feels like a failure because of it. If only I could make her understand that it was her kindness, progressive values, and love of science and scifi that made me a success at all...i wish she could see me as a success instead of her greatest failure. I love her dearly all the same.
