You're clearly in harm to yourself. Your belief in karma has turned you into an irrational victim blamer. I suppose there's the off chance you've always been that way....but I doubt it.

For the selfish person, they have "beat the system" if they get away with it since they don't care if the next person gets punished for what they did.
They might get away with it in this life. But there are other lifetimes which karma can catch up.
@ Brian : Rape has nothing to do with religion. It was just an example i took to explain karma.

Good sir, i have told you many times, i don't blame the victim. karma is about sadness. the girl who gets raped and the rapist both suffer. both have causes that lead to suffering. karma is about sadness, acceptance and direct relating that surround ALL actions, not just people who seem to be a victim.

So you're saying it's in some undefined way the victim's fault.

It is not the person (victims)'s fault. That person wont have any idea as to what has happened in the past. Yes it is an intangible force the person has brought with them.

When you say "what has happened in the past" I don't know if you mean in the sense of bad karma in a past life or the actions of the victim's individual life. Either way, the idea that a victim somehow earns their rape is despicable. On what system does this karma shit operate? Is it supposed to be a consolation that the rapist themselves may be violated in the future or in a future life? Should it serve as a consolation that the victim who was assaulted probably did something to deserve it? Should we be glad when someone is assaulted? Is it poetic justice? Does that really put things in perspective for you?

I'm left wondering about the poor rapist. Karma just used the poor schmuck like a tool. I guess he deserved that too, to be made a rapist by karma..or does karma have to wait until a sufficiently nasty person shows up? This karma business is as disturbing as it is ineffective, if you ask me.
Upshot is this, all you have to do is follow the buddhists rules and karma -might- not rape you. There's still the chance it might violate you as a necessary actor in someone else's punishment but hey...them's the breaks. That;s just the way the universe works. Says who? The buddhists...ofc.

Very good point. Neither the victim or the attacker can really be blamed, they're predetermined to suffer punishment to degrees based on what they did in past lives, which are determined by previous predetermined past lives. Things that they have absolutely no knowledge of doing, and in fact they were not even the same corporeal being when they did it.

This all helps people to be good, somehow. Keeps em from shoving old ladies into the street, unless karma forces them too... because some old lady needs to be shoved into the street, past sins and all.
