I don't have any intentions of BBQ ing any babies or puppies, lol. I'm not sure if I'm posting to my first introductory message or not, but here are my thoughts; you don't have to believe in a god in order to be a moral person. Morality does not come from religion. Our sun will not last forever, and our moon will someday lose it's gravitational orbit. Isn't it exciting, though, that I am here, now talking to you folks about the history and future of a little known species we call "human 2.0"?

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Lol, thanks Steel.  I recommend the Jack Daniels Hickory Smoked BBQ #7 sauce.

You are totally right. Religion has nothing to do with morality, when morality is to do with considering the consequences of your actions on the wellbeing of others. Instead, it says "Why do I care about people? Must be magic!"

Simple, magic explanations instead of harder, supported ones. It's especially sad when it comes to things like morality where we do have a good understanding of how it came about.

The fact religious people spend so long denying their books say what they say shows that they don't get them from the books either. They simply reflect back the parts of the book that line up with how they want to act.

Yes, cherry picking.  I could cherry pick the "Harry Potter" series, and claim that everything I thought was cool, was divinely inspired. (but I haven't seen or read the majority of Harry Potter).

In all seriousness I cant do a fraction to save my life. But I do have a basic understanding of what "scientific method" means. Theists and science deniers stupidly think it is a concept that is deep. The details of the fields certainly do get deep, but the idea is simple. Look pay attention, record, compare, and have somebody with no horse in the race check your work. It is simply following steps, no different than when you buy a bike or appliance and the instructions walk you through to get to the end assembled product.

It really isn't that different than most people accept that their vehicle runs on the idea of a combustion engine even though most people could not design or build one from scratch. There is no Allah crank shaft, no Vishnu piston, no Jesus alternator, no Apollo transmission. There is simply the vehicle.

I am no expert in scientific fields. I simply value it because I use it every day and accept that even outside a lab, there is no way outside of being dead, that humans can get around doing anything that does not involve science. They partake in it every single second of their lives.

I agree, Isaac Asimov said it best when he was comparing modern technology to the Bible. In summary, he said "We both might have a basic understanding of how a combustible engine works, but we may not agree on the details. But, just because we don't agree on the details does not mean that the engine does not work, or that there is an invisible horse pulling the car."
