EP, unintentionally or not, it was you making a strawman because you suggested she implied things she didn't even after she clarified that she didn't.

One doesn't make a straw man argument simply by saying " I get the feeling that you're saying this, if so then...". One makes a straw man by deliberately arguing against something one knows wasn't brought up by the other side and wanting to win the debate in that way.

The point is that she didn't say what you said she'd said and you don't know her intentions so quit with the "deliberately".

Lucky you, if the government paid for your masters. Education is free where I live, but I still had work for my education, since I had to eat and bunk down somewhere, and my parents couldn't support me.

I didn't publish any paper either, but the 19th and 20th century are kind of my special fields, since I got my degree handing over a paper based on that period. It was about the German colonies.

I wasn't being a dick to anyone. I merely pointed out a flaw in her thinking. She resorted to insults. Go back and read objectively what happened and stop mentioning the past as if it matters. A person is either able to remain civil or not. Nothing justifies her behaviour towards me.

Quit with the deliberately? I didn't say she said anything she didn't actually say so stop lying. I presumed she meant something and modeled my response so as to aknowledge that, that it's a mere presupposition.

My Ph.D. thesis was going to be "US-Japanese Diplomatic Relations, 1941, With An Analysis of Harsh vs. Mild Translations of Japanese Terms." I started studying Pearl Harbor in 1965, so that was going to be a slam dunk. But I got a viral lung infection and had to settle for my Masters.
