I have yet to meet an American that doesn't take or hasn't taken some kind of anti depressant at some point in their life.

First, our times aren't exactly people times. They're profit times and people are nothing but a commodity. Depression and other related deseases are on the rise everywhere because people can't cope with the pressure life puts on them these days. I for one came to associate phone calls with bad news or pressure from the office. And not being American I've been on anti depressants too. Like many are these days.

Also, I have never taken anti depressants. Neither has my husband. Neither have my parents, or my brothers, or my best friend, or my mother and father in law, or my brother in law.... well, you get the point.

I'm second generation American (though I spent several years in Sweden before moving back to the US), but I've never taken any anti-depressants. Nor has any of my 5 kids, any of their spouses, or my sister. Not sure where the fuck someone would get that we're all on anti-depressants. Only 10% of Americans are, which is pretty high, but not as high as Iceland. And Australia isn't far behind us. 9.4% of Australians are on anti-depressants, and 8.2% of UK residents are.

Though, people do have to take into account that 10% of americans is a lot more people than 8.2% of UK people, as population size difference and all.

But still, valid point. I'd be severely worried if all americans were on anti-depressants.

The majority of Americans isn't comfortable with what you call your list of disgrace. Polls show that they hold pretty liberal views. It's white, old, rightwing America endorsing what you list. A dying out breed.

The only thing I hope for is more secular liberals moving their asses to the voting booths. The American voter turnout is the only real American disgrace compared to every other Western democracy. Everything else is down to who's parking his ass in the White House and who's dominating the houses.

Ah yes. "Old white Republican men" - the root of all evil. You know, the men who fought in World War 2 for all the rest of us sitting on our as*es throwing sh*t in their direction. 

Franklin Roosevelt and a lot of other Democrats fought in that war. Don't be taken their honor from them.
