It happens.  The reason for it is being studied but is  likely genetic.

That's one of the reasons in my personal list of "reasons for atheism".  You would think at least ONE of the heads of the various religions would be able to prove, conclusively, that god actually spoke to him.  Instead, throughout history, we only get statements of "god said" or "god wants" followed by an assertion that it's true.  Not only that, but as only one of many examples, there have been some horrifically EVIL Popes. Wouldn't you think god would have stopped a Pope from murdering, stealing, lying, and keeping a harem?

Anytime anyone tells us what god said, or what god wants, they are lying.

Or, any time there's an obvious human agent (pilot landing a damaged plane, doctor performing a tricky surgery, etc...) but gawd get the credit anyway.

Simplified - Why doesn't/can't the church ask god directly which miracles are true and which are wannabee frauds. (and publish his exact wording)

I don't know why. I don't know why God doesn't talk to all of us people and make Himself seen and known in our every day lives. He did when he came down as Jesus, but I don't know why He left. I have a theory for it, but can't say I know for sure. For whatever reason, He thought it would be best to be a more subtle presence and allow us to figure certain things out for ourselves.

It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

You seem confident that this is all legit, so I thought maybe all of a sudden you had an example that would finally explain to me such confidence. But at this point, all I can surmise is that you're just intellectually a little lazy, and that is why you are quick to believe certain things without doing enough fact-checking ...

Or, she doesn't care about converting you so she leaves you to figure it out yourself.

Isn't that exactly what we've been wanting the theists to do? Quit preaching and let us reach our own conclusions?

Thank you Snake.  Heart

No need for preaching (from her). She made a claim, and I challenged her to back it up with a good example. That is the opposite of asking her to preach.

Up to her to not provide any, but I am not being unreasonable in seeing it as her being unable to find one such example. If she did, she would have likely provided it.

What claim did I make?

De nada. If we had more theists like you, King, Diedre, etc... the world would be a better place.

Of course, us heathens would have far less to bitch about. Angel

Might just be Tebba messing with us, or maybe Pflorg again.

Damn demigods, always trying to get a toe in the door.

Agreed, I really appreciate having theists who don't keep trying to convert us Smile

Thanks CL! You're a great example.
