I wonder how many people here have read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies?
I picked up a friend's copy of whatever the first book was and started to read it out of curiosity, but I had recently got together with my beautiful and sexy new girlfriend so I had better things to do. Then the movie came out and frankly all the hype and hysteria put me right off. I don't mind popular trends, but as soon as they start to seem compulsory then I pack them in.

Oh, i don't know. If you are a poe as you claim to be, why do none of your posts express anything else?
Not everything has to be about kissing the arse of a pretend superhero just to suck up to its dad, and quite to the contrary most of the best stuff is anything but.

But you think the dangers of kids getting involved in tarot/new age nonsense is minimal?
I very nearly did. But I might be the exception
I think a Catholic child might be troubled about the fate of Albus Dumbledore. As both a homosexual and a sorceror the state of his fictional soul in the afterlife cannot be promising.
I mean "gay" and wizard... sheehs pick one or the other if you want to get to heaven.... not both...
I thought the whole witch craft scare was really stupid. But then again, you're just trolling so I'm wasting my time here.
Look at it this way. It's almost twenty years since the first book came out and fifteen years since the first film adaptation. We ought to up to our ears in magic homicidal maniacs by now.

I can tell you for sure that new age/wicca/occult magic is nothing like harry potter. Any real study of these subjects will quickly enlighten those who thought other wise.

Comparison requires investigation. Investigation opens one to knowledge. Knowledge leads to doubt. Doubt leads STRAIGHT TO HELL.

Yeah, I think I identified the problem. Those who complain the loudest don't want to be enlightened; they only want to be outraged.

they (the religious) often accuses the non religious of not "studying" the bible but most atheist have a better grasp of what happened in the bible than most church goers. Open mindedness and inquiry are the good starting points of wisdom. This post proves that the religious are worried about this very quality.

Thoughts? Well, yes. Shit and runner comes to mind. Concerns? Well, yes, that too. I'm rather concerned over your cover story. You should check from time to time if it doesn't deviate from what you want us to believe.

Had I had kids, I'd sooner they read the Potter books than the Bible. Or this thread.

First, it is posts like the OP that really make me think TC is a poe. Seriously.
Second, J.K had to use the initials J.K because stupid Christian Patriarchy meant people only take male writers seriously. K isn't even her real middle initial.
Third, the irony of the series and it's anti - pure blood leaning, and the fact that mostly purists of some sort (KKK, creationists, biblical literalists) fear it is not lost on me or most of society.
You can isolate your children all you want, but guess what? Even BEFORE age 18, they are going to have opinions of their own, because they are humans with minds, not little copies of you.
