RE: 2-big bang theory in the Quran
For every scientist, if indeed he is, that goes down the superstitious path, there are countless that follow logic and reason, as the Steve list shows Smile

RE: 2-big bang theory in the Quran
Quote:1) The universe has always been joined together...it's the universe. It didn't explode or rip itself from...itself either.
but it was all as a joined entity(one piece) and now its not.
Quote:2) The verse says "the heaven" is expanding, not the universe.
i clarified this before the word heaven means the sky or what is above us which include everything except the earth when talking about the universe it is the earth and the heavens
Quote:3) There are many theories on what might happen to the universe; the Big Crunch is but one of them, and it doesn't say anything about the universe being flat.
as i know there is big crunch and big chill it depends on their examination of the dark matter.anyway we are waiting and hoping that they discover this when we are still alive talking about this information was impossible to even imagine 1400 years ago
Quote:All this is irrelevant because it hasn't happened yet, so to say the Qur'an has scientific knowledge of these is ridiculous...because it hasn't happened.
you are saying this because the third verse about the big crunch is not established yet?what about the first and the second? regarding the universe being flat i qouted from nasa website so correct this information if am wrong

Qu'ran is has no scientific knowledge admit it, it only has vague descriptions that anyone could take as anything, the heavens expanding could be about afterlife of good muslims being there more muslims, and as far i know the universe is not flat because there are galaxies in all directions and not just in a line, if the universe was flat we would only see a line of stars but we see stars around everywhere so your wrong

Except that they always called paradise heavens, you are just nitpicking your own religious book to fit your views.

The big crunch can only happen if the universe is spherical, if it's flat the big crunch can't happen so your views are wrong too

You sure do say that a lot. Why don't you do some research for yourself for a change? Try doing a bit of research outside of your book of fairy-tales and/or those who strive to legitimize it. Start here: Google!

3-expansion of the universe:
"And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it."(Quran, 51:47)
4-the big crunch and the flat universe:
"The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it."(Quran 21:104)
If you are gonna use these arguments to prove the Qu'ran was divinely inspired then the best of luck with that. Becuase you could read what you want into them. As an atheist I could read:

51:47 above as evidence the Qu'ran is wrong as the universe is not steadily expanding but expanding at an ever increasing and dizzying rate,ie flying apart from itself faster
21:104 as suggesting Qu'ran thinks the big cruch is the likely outcome, but the best science suggests a universe in ruins through entropic heat death expanding forever into darkness

NEITHER of us has proved anything. The only thing we know is that the Qu'ran was written by ignorant men, who claimed divine inspiration. Whether they had depends on your persepctive. I don't think it is anything more than a plagarism of previous works and there is no revelation in the Qu'ran or any other the so called holy book that could not have been put their by bronze or iron age men, nothing at all. Better evidence that man created gods rather than the reverse.
