But good job, drfuzzy, sounds like you might have made a real difference for those kids.

Thanks Alex K!  Oh, bad choice of words on my part.  Christian Computing, no.
Tongue
I took her first to a site called "Focus on the Family".  The site makes me retch, but I managed not to show it.  She loved it.

Then we found lists of good xtian sites for kids, like this one:  http://us-en.superbook.cbn.com/pages/gam...in-busters

Hey, giving the little darlins' (They were cute kids - ) Christian games and puzzles online is better than Mommy banning them from the internet altogether.  I love giving kids books.  I really love giving kids books . . .           Shy

Focus on the family?

On par with the "Discover" institute or AiG.

Perfect for fundies, though.

Oh . . . my . . . fuckmothering gawd (stole that from Evie) . . . that is horrendous.  I see 25 states with NO required assessments of student academic progress.  And some of the minimum percentiles posted wouldn't be passing grades . . . anywhere.  This is really bad.
Thanks for the link, mh!

The real problem with homeschooling standards is that you get people who defend even the worst of the worst just because they're pro-home school. And I do mean worst of the worst, like this Kentucky Couple who had TEN kids (I have half that many, but still... TEN!)

Yes, you have people defending families like the Nauglers. They even got $45,000 in donations from their supporters.

People think this is an okay way to live. "Freedom" is what they call it. I can't believe people defend it. Some people think all you need in life is skills to perform labor, and to be able to read and write. You need far more than that in life, and if that's all some people expect of their kids I'm left speechless.

They took the kids away (yay!) and then gave 'em back after the Nauglers got money to build a house . . . (what the hell?).  Ten kids, no running water, no education . . .      Banging Head On Desk

This story is the finest example of why I am anti-theist, and I will never apologize for that! No mincing words, no hiding the facts, the teaching of theism is fundamentally evil and religious homeschooling is the very worst form of child abuse.

And still people defend it with "Freedom" and decry public education. "What right does the state and federal government have to determine how a family should live?" they say.

Two guesses to if the people who say this are: A. Christian or B. Atheist. And the first guess doesn't count.

It's exactly that kind of attitude that keeps us from having ANY sort of standards for homeschooling or even private schooling (many want to do away with public schools altogether.) When I think about all of this... I can understand why some people just want to watch the world burn.

Are you a proponent of big government?  What civic lesson would that teach the kids?  That they are the property of the government bureaucrats?

Maybe it would teach the kids and a few breeding assholes that American children are not the property of their parents.

Just because you can fuck doesn't give you the right to do anything you wish with the resulting children. Children are not your personal weapons to be used against the rest of and the better whole of society! They belong to their country, and their rights to the best which their country can offer them for an education should never be denied them!

Libertarian assholes, take note!
