Feel the Bern!!!

She's never actually voted before in her life; this would be the first time, and she's only doing it if Sanders gets the nomination. If I could vote, I'd do the same thing. I'm not a subscriber to the idea that everyone should vote, regardless of whether the candidates match their political views or not. If there isn't a candidate who I think would do a good job as President, I'll simply abstain from voting. Neither Hillary nor Trump are Presidential.

But, Tibs, a vote for Hillary (if she is the Dem nom) is a vote for not-Republican asshat. There are real issues on the table. At least one, if not 3 Supreme Court justices are going to be filled by the next president. Even if Hillary doesn't seem presidential, a vote for her is a vote for a progressive court. As Bill Maher says: "Eat the fuckin' chicken even if you ordered the fish." I know you may not like Hillary (I don't) but we have to combat this idea that if we're not excited about a candidate, all of a sudden we're apathetic to the rest of the process.

Voting is not just for the president. That day, it's also for senate and congressional seats. Our country's fate is at stake here with these obstructionist idiots in Congress. You (or Luckie) should still vote in order to show those people that they are held accountable for not doing their jobs. At least that much, even if you are abstaining from voting for the Presidential candidate.

Well, that all depends on where Tibs lives.  If he lives in a swing state, then yeah, they need to get out to vote. If they live in a solidly blue state, they should probably still go vote, to make sure it stays blue, but it probably won't matter.  If the live in a solidly red state, then they might as well stay home and do something useful with their time, because their vote won't be counted.

So really only votes in like 4 or 5 stouts count for shit, when voting for President (this does not apply for congressional elections, in that case there is a whole different set f riged rules).

Go "democratic" voting system!!

Reminds me of the party political put out by the Lib Dems some years ago, in which John Cleese pointed out that if everyone who said they'd vote Lib Dem if they had a chance of winning actually voted Lib Dem, then they would do.

@ Tibs

It pleases me very much that you don't believe that everyone should vote even if it means voting for people they don't agree with, Tibs.

I'm very ignorant of politics but many people have thought of me idiotic not for my ignorance but for my refusal to vote because of my ignorance until I'm sure I'm actually voting for someone whom I agree with. I'm glad that you wouldn't think it idiotic of me to refuse to vote for someone I disagree with for the sake of it. Like, just for an extra vote. Meh.

I live in Massachusetts, so the following is almost guaranteed to happen:

1) The Democratic presidential candidate will win the electoral college.
2) All 9 representatives (who are all Democrats) will be re-elected.

If the Denocratic senators were up for election, they'd get re-elected.

If the governor were up for election, we'd probably choose a Republican, because WTF Massachusetts.

In case I wasn't clear, I was just talking about the vote for President. I'm fine voting for senators, representatives, etc. if they are good. I don't vote for people who don't deserve to be in office.

I'd prefer Sanders but, if it came down to it I'd probably Vote Clinton depending upon, if she did not have a major screw up some where along the line. I'm still keeping the Independent option open as just in case he does not get nominated. Which reminds me, I need to look into those candidates to be able to pick a solid third party option.

I'm not going to bother voting. I don't see the point; my vote wouldn't count anyway.

In the long run you are right Stimbo, the vast majority does not for fill there promises. Once in a great while a candid like Sanders does appear which would be a combo of J.F.K and F.D.R.
