Non fiction is not a fact checked category. Otherwise most politicans' biographies, books by the tin foil hat crowd, alternative medicine books, self help books, weight loss books, celebrity tell-alls, many popular history books, and every religious tome ever written would be in fiction. But I could make a good case for the mythology section----seriously, the religious section is fine. It's the only place the koran and the Bible inhabit together peacefully. And everyone visiting there labels everyone else's book fiction anyway.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Shouldn't be in any categories. It should go straight in the fucking bin or the fire, whatever tickles your fancy.
Oh come on now. Why would anyone think the bible is fiction? We've all heard donkeys talk. Haven't we?
It seems even the Christians agree the part forbidding divorce and remarriage is fiction.
And that bit about drinkin' the poison and handlin' dem 'nakes. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Librarian here. Working in the Dewey Decimal System.
Dewey simply avoids the question by putting the Bible in it's own classification: 200. There are a series of subcategories (221-229) for individual copies of various books, and (usually) for works about individual books. This is a good thing, because trying to figure out where each individual book would actually go would drive you crazy. 892: Afro-Asiatic Literature? 933: Ancient Historical texts - Palestine. Libraries tend to avoid the "fiction" issue entirely and just classify it as historical literature. Me, if I could get away with it, I might make a special section in "mythology".
"The family that prays together...is brainwashing their children."- Albert Einstein
Where does it belong?
Depends on the quality. Two ply? Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"
Dewey needs updating.
Bullshit needs a category.
The horror section. It has zombies!!
The crime section. It has criminals and crime stories!! The fantasy section. It has all kinds of fantasies. The legal section. It has all kinds of laws and regulations. The BS section. None of the future events in it will ever happen.
Sounds a bit like a goat herders philosophy.
Don't know why it gained traction.
