Lawmakers in New Mexico are finally challenging the ridiculous notion that under 18 kids should be charged as child pornographers and/or placed on sexual predator lists for nude selfies they share with their girl/boyfriends:

While I've never been thrilled with the idea that one of my daughters would ever photograph themselves nude and share those photos, I've never believed teenagers should be punished for what they are best at. Being stupid kids. While I don't think many (if any, though I could be wrong) cases have ended up with these types of charges being prosecuted, every time some poor kid has been caught with his girlfriends boobs or her boyfriends dick on their phones, the media circus that chases perverts and pedophiles have landed on the stories full force. Some of these kids will be known in adulthood for (mostly) harmless mistakes they made as a kid.

Good on ya, New Mexico. It's about fucking time.

We have the exact same issue in the UK, however kids don't really get sent to court for it either. Maximum they get for their first offence is a caution, IIRC.

America is lucky in regards to the fact that States can make up their own individual laws. (I'm aware that Federal law can overrule state laws, correct me if I'm wrong). Here we basically just have to do what the central government says.

There are a lot of parents that are pushing laws like this to be put on the books.

And to stratify the tier system better (or create a tier system in some states.)
