I can tell you that I never lied.  I actually considered myself very open to learn things.  I was just more or less brainwashed.  Of course, it was just a matter of time before my open mindedness overcame my brainwashing.  Ironically, it's my theist parents who encouraged me to question things and look at things honestly, so in a way they're indirectly responsible for me seeing the "light".  I still think they're 99% honest but they can't be honest with themselves about religion for some reason.  Maybe that's a product of being older and having already invested so much of their lives in it.
