But how? Is the word "Hijab" in the Quran? My understanding is the Quran does not mention any specific items of clothing. But if that's the reason people do that then, sure, whatever. If it's from the Hadith then that's not Allah speaking, but fallible humans.

Hijaab would of been ambiguous, because it's the word we say now, but all it would mean is veil, and would not convey the meaning that hair ought to be covered. However a more clear word is used to imply the hair should be covered is used in Quran, and it's unambiguous, and in my opinion anyone who is wants to sincerely know what the Quran says regarding the issue, will know it is clear in this regard. I disagree with the notion that there is ambiguity over this issue in Quran.

If someone is advocating face masks then I pity them. I would put money on the most outspoken of such people secretly watching people like Mia Kalifa and Nadia Ali (not the signer born in Libya, a different Nadia Ali) as they prance about in Hijabs for pornography videos.. Like how Hamza "stone to death adulterers" Tzortis was found on Ashely Madison.

Good discussion even though Al-Jazeera is a Qatari Wahaabi mouthpiece:

Actually the Quran is also clear that the face is not required in Hijaab.

It's still indoctrination though. If you can convince someone that God wants you to wear something,  that's really the ultimate form of indoctrination.

Is that even a thing, BQ? I've honestly never heard of it.

I'd thought it was because it was part of their religious observances. Stupid, but not about modesty. More about not wanting to be raped in the street by barbarians and honor killed for it.

From the questions I've asked its a bit of both. But I just think it's poopy.

RE: Stop pretending to be modest
I have heard about "Muslims communities" in England, and I hope what I have heard isn't accurate.

People say they are like mini theocracies where even the police are scared to go, and that women have basically no power.

I really, really wish that isn't the case. I haven't observed this myself yet.

If it's true about these communities then it's scary. Just like I don't want to be disturbed by Church bells, I don't want to hear the Adnan blaring out. These days everyone has pocket watches and mobile telephones. If people can't make it to prayer on time then it's their own fault.
