RE: Quran Miracle
My mother believes that because the Laminin protein that hold cells together looks like Jesus being sacrificed the Bible is therefore true. I happen to contest this. But I also happen to think that it's a better argument than a line or two in the religious text. People of all religions are desperate to prove detractors wrong.

Clearly, Quran 4:157 says: "That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-"

But to an ignorant person, they look a Laminin and think "Wow, that's amazing! This is proof of the Biblical account of Jesus!" And, you know, have been known to say there is miraculous science in the Bible too. But the Bible and Quran can't both be correct because one is a corruption and the other isn't. Why would Allah design cell proteins to look like crosses? People also say the Hindu Vedas have miraculous science; why are they wrong and you right?

How does that in any way prove the bible is true, even if what she was saying had any merit?

Does it prove every story with a cross in it is true also?

I have no idea. I think the correct term is "confirmation bias". It's reinforcing an idea in her mind. This is more evidence the Bible is correct. And, besides, the universe being 'super-fluid' is just speculation at this point. Altas is jumping to conclusions. So what I'm saying is other people believe nature confirms their religion.

Guys. Dumb Question. I'm not good at interpreting stuff from the bible as I don't have a motive to decide whether something should be literal vs metaphorical.

When Jesus turned water into wine, what's that proving? That he can do magic tricks? Is that all? I don't think he was helping anyone by turning them into alcoholics.
What's the moral story we are to take from it?
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

He was, err...

Showing that he wants people to drink his blood in the future, which isn't at all weird.

I don't know. Cheap parlour tricks. Not even very impressive by today's standards.

Well Allah originally wanted people to pray fifty times a day. Drinking a metaphorical glass of blood every now and again is nothing compared to having to pray fifty times every single day of your life. Moses realized human design was not suited for constant worship, so he told Muhammad his thoughts on the matter. And Muhammad traveled between the seven heavens and negotiated with Allah until he got to an amount of Salat that was acceptable to Moses.

When I say Muhammad traveled between the seven heavens, what I mean is he traveled back and forth between Moses and Allah several times. This was Muhammad's night journey. Fifty prayers a day was too much so Moses wanted Allah to reduce that amount. And, with help of Muhammad, he succeed.

Fifty times a day? Just when you thought god couldn't get any more egotistical.
