Adrian is my name, so clearly you should name the boy after me.

I'm partial to Kevin

I've always thought Robvalue is a strong name, but since that's accidentally been missed out as an option, I'll go with Adrian!

I voted for Adrian so as to stay within the poll's parameters.
As for my own choices: Male: Alexander. I know this is really geeky but it's based on one of the worst episodes of the original Star Trek series: Plato's Stepchildren. Alexander was a noble character amongst horribly petty ones. He stood by his principles. Although he was terribly abused by his peers, he indignantly refused the offer from the Enterprise characters to receive powers to turn the tables on them. "You think that's what I want? To be like them?" Alexander was very petty in terms of stature but he was a shining star in terms of principles. In the end, the Enterprise crew liberated him from his oppressors. It was perhaps the most heart-warming moment of the original Star Trek series. Like I said, it's geeky. Female: Miranda. My daughter is named this and once again, it's based on a lousy 3rd-season episode of the original Star Trek series: Is There in Truth, No Beauty? My daughter, Miranda was born with hydrocephalus and spinabifida - the second-most common birth defect. It probably has to do with the fact that both me and her mother are of Irish-Scottish descent. She was raised by foster parents as neither me nor her mother are suitable parents. Should have used birth control, I know. Anyway, she was named after a character who was born blind but scorned pity. Our Miranda isn't a geek and is somewhat embarrassed over the origin of her name but ironically, she bears her disability well and angrily eschews pity. It seems her name is appropriate after all.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I second Alexander

You're Alexander the second?

I like names starting with A, so I suggest "Aiden",
or Adrian if I were to choose from the poll Quote:To know yet to think that one does not know is best; Not to know yet to think that one knows will lead to difficulty. Made it through the first five pages but couldn't take any more.
Of the names we were inundated with as kids back in the day, Mark kind of hits the mark, don't you think? It has also become nearly extinct. Of the thousands of students I had in the last twenty five years, nary a Mark. Of course if you don't like that one you might just as well go with Rupert, Barney or Bojangles. If we stick to the poll I liked Conrad. But I'd also go back through old timey family names to see if there are any that strike a chord. In my family they could have named me Alphonse or Sheridan which might have been fun. My wife ditched her common as dirt first name Susan for her middle name Lia. Lia was the name of her aunt who had been born in Italy. But other names from her family they could have gone with were Persis and Drusilla. I was going to say Drusilla is only fit as a vampire name but when I googled it for spelling learned it was the name of a character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hmmm … Buffy? |
