It's been made somewhat obsolete by newer managers like lastpass and keepass. Unfortunately switching over is not an easy proposition. It took me several days of massaging CSV lists from the old password keeper to the new one. I'm still depending on the older password manager. I wonder how easy it would be to migrate my current password database to lastpass. I'm guessing it wouldn't be easy. RE: Unable to log in to my account

ETA: I checked the options in the version I'm using, it imports from a couple of dozen different password managers. When I converted to keepass I had to create two separate CSV files because of a mismatch between how keepass handles things and my old manager. I wonder what happens if I use both managers, will lastpass learn as it goes. Guess I'll try it out. If people have strong enough master passwords (which they encourage you to have), then they could literally publish everyone's password vaults online and nobody would be able to get to the actual passwords. My LastPass password is 30+ characters long (it's basically a nonsense sentence) and you need to know that exact password in order to unlock the vault. As far as I'm aware, not even LastPass know the master password, as all the decryption is done in your web browser. As long as you have used a strong passphrase as per the recommendations, good luck with brute-forcing the decryption of the data they stole, because that's the only way they're going to be able to access it - and that brute force attack would take a tremendous amount of time and resources for each user. |
