Well, she deserved it.
See, this is why I hate to be called ma'am. It's because where I am from people only do it to mock you. Now living in South Georgia everyone calls me ma'am and no amount of begging will convince them to stop.
-please don't call me ma'am
-yes ma'am
-doh sorry ma'am

In retrospection, it is a form of high respect to be called sir or ma'am.
I honestly only use the ma'am reference toward young girls I can't stand.
Men are not as complicated as women. I have had no problems with male customers at work. The problems are with the women.
And I'm gay, so that states something significant.

You are significantly lucky. At my job it's always the men. Oh gawds how I hate some of them. Yes, women can be a pain sometimes too. But I have had grown men throwing tantrums in my office like you wouldn't believe.

I've lived in Louisiana for nearly four years now, and not only do I hear 'sir' and 'ma'am' all the time but saying it has practically become a verbal tic with me. Before moving here, I seldom said 'ma'am' and only if I was addressing a woman of a certain age. Now everyone is ma'am. I fear the Southern Borg may be taking me over -- so much so that I seek reassurance from family when we talk on the phone that I'm not developing a drawl.

What I always told my employees was, "We've all heard the phrase, 'The customer is always right.' That isn't true, and we all know it. But our job is to have the customer leave the store feeling right."
That means listening to them and explaining why their desires aren't attainable -- most importantly listening -- because that's what they really want, to be heard.

I hate to be called ma'am. Hate hate hate. But at the same time I don't like dude and I especially don't like bruh. Excuse me I'm not even a guy. So I'll take ma'am if I have to. Honestly though, if you don't even know my name I generally don't want you to address me as anything lol. I'm a terrible anti social grinch in real life.
On moving to SoCal, I had to retrain myself to not call women "ma'am" -- it seems that many out there get butthurt assuming it's an age reference. Where I'm from it's a simple courtesy doled out to all women regardless of age.
But butthurt customers don't spend money, so there you go.

Butthurt customers only get that way because we have created for ourselves a society in which they think they are always right when they are not.

Well, yeah, an entitled society is obnoxious. I owe you courtesy. I don't owe you the words you want to hear, most of the time.

Actually, you do.
And that is another problem with our society.
If you're going to ask me how I am doing, I will you tell you honestly that I am doing horribly rather than give you the answer you want to hear so that you can perpetuate a broken system that does not make anything truly better in the end.
Society needs the truth, even if it is harsh or something one does not want to hear. After all, I was not created for the sole purpose of being your delusion whisperer.
