The real American culture was an officer asking us friendly to leave the vessel, since we're not supposed to be there, when we boarded an aircraft carrier anchoring at San Francisco to have a closer look. Mostly for my sake, since I was but 8 years old. That was back in '71 when paranoia wasn't on a rampage yet.

Maybe I'm wrong, but in my experience most Americans are friendly, we are not hateful, we are tolerant, we don't fear people who are different from us, we want every person to have the right to pursue their own happiness in their own way, we embrace our racial diversities, we are kind to our neighbors (yes even the Muslim ones) and we even want (according to national polls) equal rights for everyone (yes even the big bad gays).



We have our share of crappy mcCrapfaces, just like every other country, but they're not the majority. The "American culture" they envision is flawed and exclusive.
