I really appreciate Jor's take on this.

By what method of determination do I experience existence separate from your experience; more to the point, what determined both our particular experiences and could one have been shunt in place of another (by what alternate means could I have experienced existence through your perspective or vice versa)?

Why here, why now...why not exist a thousand years from now or a thousand years past?

Can this ever be coherently approached or determined materialistically/scientifically? Or, is metaphysics a fundamental necessity?

Metaphysics.

@Gem

I won't blow smoke up your ass by telling you I was familiar with Priest beforehand, lol, but even the most cursory glance at his wiki entry (and particularly the referenced articles he's authored and reviews of his work) firmly establish his credentials as a syncretist.

Not that this should be taken, in any way, as a refutation of the value you find in those works. It's just a descriptor. More skeptical than what, though, and by reference to what standard?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Sorry? No, what doesn't what? I think you've missed my point again. I'll restate for clarity:

I am me and not anyone else because I am the qualia of a single brain. I could not have been born in another time because my brain only exists in the temporal 'now' and not at any other point in existence.

Quip.  Hi

Yoga answer these questions very very easily.  Indubitably

The moon is one but if you see the moon reflected on a lake you may and will see a myriad of moons
according to the position in which you are.
Every different positions around the lake offer the vision of the moon so we may have millions of moon but as we know the moon is only one.
Similarly there are a myriads of lives in the universe but the one who produce a reflection on this universe is only one and that is .......guess who?
I am NOT saying who he-she is because people here would ask me for evidence.

Additional: Is it 'my brain' or am I a brain's 'person'? I think the latter is a reasonable interpretation of the current evidence.

The ease with which yoga answers questions seems directly proportional to the idiocy of the answers.
