You betray yourself. Consider the religious support for the following: death penalty, send healthy 18 year old people to die in a war waged under false pretense, suicide by cop okay, homicide by cop okay, murder abortion doctors, etc. Not to mention the fertilized eggs you have flushed out during menstruation. Does this make you a serial killer?

Allow me to relieve you of responsibility for the last bit, Jesus did it. So it's okay if a resurrected liberal hippy jew performs abortions without the consent of the mother, but you would deprive a woman of the 21st century, responsible for gestating and raising the child, the opportunity to have a say. Jesus aborts an exponentially higher number of 'babies' than we mortals are capable of so if you're really concerned about abortion there's a far more productive solution: kill Jesus. Hopefully this time we can find someone that can actually get the job done.

Can you mind addressing my points about the disconnet between how society views the fetus and how the law does? According to you, Charles Manson should not have been charged with double murder for killing pregnant Sharon Tate. After all, Sharon's fetus was worthless according to you!

Retard is an insult but there are many medical conditions that can give impaired cognition so you have not really been clear on what it is or even if the disease you class as retarded is one that can be screened for because you may as well have said "republicans" where you put retards, (I would).
Sharon Tate did not choose an abortion, this is important. Having a child is the biggest thing a woman can do and it should be her choice. If you remove that legal choice then women will choose to do it illegally, you would not, but what you would do is not representative of all women and your desire to inflict your choices on others in one of the vilest things about religious people.

It is considered cruel to refer to disabled persons as "retarded", just as it is no longer acceptable to refer to black people as "niggers". Welcome to the 21st century. 

If you would like to get "back on the wagon", try addressing the arguments we're actually making instead of making up stuff that we don't say or think. If you come to a forum populated by rationalists, it does not help your cause to make emotionally-charged arguments and to ignore what others are actually saying to you.

If I had a girlfriend who was pregnant and the baby was mentally retarded I would really really hope she would have an abortion.
I have a daughter and I can't say what I'd do if she was born disabled and if I'd be able to handle it or not. I'd like to think I'd be good enough to still raise the child properly.
I'm not really against abortion, I think it is essentially killing a human life but not a highly conscious human life form.
Plus there's so many different kinds of disabilities and levels of mental retardation, which makes it more difficult to give a straight forward answer.
