CIJS I hate how this country has to bury itself in bureaucracy

My problem, and what I need, are very fucking simple. I have an ear-wax build-up that's blocking my hearing and getting on my nerves, and I need a nurse to remove it. I don't know why you're telling me I need to go through the whole process of getting a doctor's appointment, "getting permission" from the doctor to have this done, and then seeing a nurse. That's going to take a week or two minimum, and I'm scared this problem is going to impact my hearing long-term if I don't deal with it immediately (doing stuff at home hasn't worked).

I don't know why it's such a big problem to just book myself in with the nurse. I wasn't born fucking yesterday, I know what my problem is.

I wish they had an option to sign away your right to sue if things go wrong, because that's what this is about, fear I'm going to go on the make.

Must be genetic . . .

Vorls, is it true that the Adam and Eve painting in the Sistine chapel depicts them with belly buttons?
Was that an oversight by you know who?

I once had a similar problem... and the doctor took care of it. No need for any nurse.

Go to walmart.com and order one of these... they can have it to your nearest store in a day or two and the shipping is free.

It's called an Elephant Ear Wash system. My doctor's office uses it and has used it on me. It works. Get some relief.

I know this is the CIJS thread and not the Advice thread, but having recently suffered exactly this, and having had to deal with a VA bureaucracy that gave me three weeks for an appointment when I should have been cared on a walk-in basis, I'll share what I did, under the tutelage of a Certain Someone:

1) Get an ear-cleaning kit, including a bulb syringe and peroxide-based cleanser.
2) When you shower, direct the stream of hot water in your ear. Manipulate your ear so that you can get as straight a shot as possible.
3) Out of the shower, use the bulb to put hot water into your ear. Both the hot shower water and this injected water will act to melt the wax, a little at a time.
4) Suction out the water.
5) Put in some of the peroxide cleanser, and let it sit for a few minutes. Using the bulb, suction it out. You will remove residue with it as it liquefies.
6) Do this for a few days. By the third or fourth day, you will be able to remove the plug.

It's an awful feeling, and I sure sympathize. The above worked for me. My hearing is unaffected; I still only hear exactly what I want to. Smile

Thanks everyone

I went to a walk-in clinic out of desperation, and was met with more bureaucracy... doctor couldn't do anything because he's not "my" doctor. Ugh fuck off, what are you here for then, are you a bookend?

I'll take all your advice, the quickest way I'm getting fixed up

...

Side note - I think I should work on my language a bit. I'm too profane on here
