Can I just say, and I'm just being honest...

Plus, I have contacts.

I wish it were that easy. I'm on state insurance so I can only buy what they cover once a year. And the two places I can go to that take my insurance won't give me extra coverage for breakage, even if I wanted to pay for it.

CIJS

I hate my stove. I've been cooking since I was ten years old and have cooked on all kinds of stoves but this is the first one to give me issues.

I managed to smoke up the kitchen and living rooms and I scorched breakfast.

True. But being mindful of our emotions and being mindful of our thoughts is very connected. When we notice we're feeling crappy we also may notice we've been engaging in negative self-talk for the past 15 minutes and believing every word of our narrative even when it's often a very biased and exaggerated perspective.

So maintaining an objective distance from our emotions is partially about being mindful of our thoughts/self-talk, I reckon.

I do find it helpful to be mindful of my thoughts... but only briefly. This is why I don't like meditation... I think it's only helpful to catch myself when I'm engaged in negative self-talk so I can redirect my focus to something more positive and rational.

So I think being mindful of our emotions and keeping an objective distance from them and being mindful of our thoughts and keeping an objective distance from them are very connected. Often I think our emotions are there to warn us when our automatic thoughts are on the wrong track.

Mindfulness is especially helpful for O.C.D. because O.C.D. is all about non-automatic thoughts straining to control uncontrollable automatic thoughts that the O.C.D. sufferer is overly averse to.

Now... whilst I think stopping to re-direct my thoughts to help get my emotions back on track and my mind more rational is helpful... I think my negative emotions are the best pre-warning for that purpose. My perspective is that emotions are there to let me know I'm off-track.

Now mindfulness of my experience as a whole as opposed to just my thoughts or my emotions... living in the moment. That's something I love.

This is just my take on it. We often are expressing the same viewpoints in different ways, hehe.

Thank you. I'm doing well right now Smile

Enjoying the moment and ignoring the past and future. Tryin' t' relax.

Music sure helps me relax and CIJS I fucking love Porcupine Tree and I fucking love this song:

Lyrics:

"Always in my thoughts you are
Always in my dreams you are
I got your voice on tape, I got your spirit in a photograph
Always out of reach you are

Cold inside my arms you are
Simple like a child you are
I remember when you took my hand and led me through the rain
Down inside my soul you are

The more I show the way I feel
The less I find you give a damn
The more I get to know
The less I find that I understand
Innocent, the time we spent
Forgot to mention we're good friends
You thought it was the start of something beautiful?
Well think again.

Mother lost her looks for you
Father never wanted you
I trust to love and then I find you never really felt the same
There's something in your heart so cruel"

CIJS - I made dinner for you while you sat on your lazy arse and played PS4, don't get angry when I pinch a slice of that pizza that I spent 30 minutes waiting to cook before I made myself something.

"But it's my dinner! ... and it's not done how I like anyway!"

I made it. Get off your arse and make yourself something if you want it done right.

Feel better, Hammie Love

Regina, I can't help but to think your posts in "what are you doing" and here are related? x)
See now I both want to smoke a blunt, and eat pizza!

Nymphadora! Feel better too! Back problems are arguably the worst problems!

CIJS

Just leave me alone. Don't 'like' my shit, don't talk to me. Don't talk about me. Don't cause me anymore drama. I was here long before you came along side by side with my husband, and I'm not leavin. I simply wish to ignore your existence if you don't mind, thx

LUCKIE
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Evie, I just want to point out that meditation isn't about catching the thoughts or mindfulness only in that moment. Meditation is practice so you are better at mindfulness when you are having a tough time. It's just like practicing any other skill.
