(it's because it's black, isn't it...lol Wink ....no, seriously that -is- why, whether you realized that beforehand or not, hence the moniker "the black rifle" for all of the thousands of variants)

You  wouldn't mind if someone shot you with it then?  Rolleyes

I've been hit by worse.  Id rather take .223 rem to the leg, yeah.  Beyond that lazy attempt, don't you think our gun laws might be in a quixotic state when a gun is banned (but not really) because it's perceived to be a preturnaturally lethal killing machine..but simultaneously banned (and really is) for hunting purposes because it;s been shown to be insufficiently lethal in the case of an 80lb whitetail?

Mind you, I'm not a fan of the ar series. I don't own one, I wont be buying one. I do, however, understand ar owners position...and how it affects bolt gun shooters like myself, whether or not the anti-gun crowd realizes it.

It might be possible to write a rational gun law if the screaming of "SLIPPERY SLOPE!!!!" didn't drown out rational comments.

Not by the evidence we have written into our gun bans.  There's nothing rational about it...and a slippery slope is only a fallacy when the slope isn't slippery.  In this case it obviously is when we have laws regarding the same firearm that point to completely contradictory justifications as a rationalization for effecting precisely the same situation, don't actually ban the things they purport to, and would..if we ever decided to enforce them, ban things we -didn't- intend to ban....all the while not having the slightest chance in hell of preventing or ameliorating the thing we claimed to be addressing in the first place.

This is just more of the same "it's the other guys fault".  Well, I'm not the other guy, and he didn't write those laws in the first place.  May as well cut to the chase and take each other to bed.

The Dems don't want to ban guns. They just want to ban the common citizen from owning them.

They are perfectly happy with being surrounded by their guns.

Yes and no. No in the fact that we want to ban the 2nd Amendment. But yes. If you think I am off my rocker in all the time you have red all my posts, would you blindly hand me a weapon, or would you question my ability?

We don't want to take away every single gun. But only an idiot thinks they should be handed out to untrained or delusional or mentally ill or religiously violent people. If you think "no record" at time of buy equates to responsibility you are a fucking idiot.

I get that, but what you keep on ignoring is that regardless of whether or not -you- want to ban all guns, the laws that you're in favor of have that ability, because they're uninformed, poorly worded laws.

That's why the nutters are worried. They know that there's no -actual- difference between an ar and a hunting rifle chambered in .223. That a law which makes the one illegal, consistently applied, also makes the other illegal. They see it as deceit, as a conspiracy, a trojan horse. I just think that gun control advocates aren't gun savvy and don't realize it.

............? Were you under the impression that our laws -were- in a good state? We don;t enforce the good ones, we make alot of noise about the bad ones...and it's all just political theater. A way to get rubes to pull a lever about an issue they know next to nothing about. Why come up with a decent ticket when you can just say "I'm pro gun control" or "I'm against gun control"and save yourself the time?
