It's a good question, I have to be honest, I woke up yesterday morning and was in shock at the news as I never believed it would happen.

Would I change my vote?  Absolutely not, my reasons for leaving have not changed in 24 hours.

It wasn't even half the country. It was half of the 72% who turned out to vote.

I have a suspicion that if the turnout was 100% the result would have been a win for remain.

Will we see voters/non voters regret and have another vote?

I understand that leaving the EU is a 2 year process.

According to the Huff post there are at least some Brexiters who used it as a protest and never expected that we would leave.

As far as I, considering myself to be European before national citizen, hate this 50/50 chance of sceptics ruining it for the rest of us, you can't repeat until you get the desired result. As Tiberius said, most people don't really understand economics and consequences of any given political decisions. Not because they are stupid, but because they have very different strengths and weaknesses, very different levels of education and very different fields of expertise. That's what representative democracies are for. We elect people to do the job of political and economical decision making and they surround themselves with a staff of experts. Of course they are the ones that should have made this decision and not the people.

PS just saw Thump's comment. Yes, I can't believe it wasn't 2/3 required for action here. 1/2 is plain bullshit. Overconfidence by Cameron, he didn't think this through clearly.

Westminster could always fuck over the Leavers like they did Scotland in 1979 when 51.6% voted for devolution.

The result was that 51.6% supported the proposal, but with a turnout of 64%, this represented only 32.9% of the registered electorate. The Act was subsequently repealed.

The Brexit vote certainly hasn't managed 40% of the total electorate.
