The sum of the national government members - that's the EU, and that's the body which imposes the rules. There's no Darth Vader sitting in the shadows, only national politicians trying to sell that image to their credulous electorate. Right after they parked their asses at Brussels to make some laws.

What sounds good to a bunch of politicians , that don't understand Human Rights is no way to run a dictatorship that governs nations that are governed by the ECHR .... 

Note the EU can dictate by directives with no concern for the ECHR. Nations have to ignore earlier ratification of the ECHR or have sanctions placed on them by the EU ....

That really depends. I don't know about dual citizenship laws in Germany, but I think they're allowing it. As opposed to my country. So there's probably no need to revoke the UK citizenship.

Germany only allows it in certain very narrow circumstances, one of which is the other country is an EU member. If Mathilda were declared a German citizen at birth she would have been allowed dual nationality too (she might even now, the literature I see is sketchy on that). But there is very little else that allows dual nationality under German law.

A person born of a parent with German citizenship at the time of the child's birth is a German citizen. Place of birth is not a factor in citizenship determination based on parentage.

Those born after 1 January 1975 are Germans if the mother or father is a German citizen.
Those born before 1 January 1975 could normally only claim German citizenship from the father and not the mother. Exceptions included cases where the parents were unmarried (in which case German mothers could pass on citizenship) or where the German mother applied for the child to be registered as German on or before 31 December 1977.

My father is and has always been a German citizen. My mother's English. I was born in England in 1974.

I'd be prepared to renounce my British citizenship if need be. My husband is Scottish so I should still be able to live here if we wanted. We had thought that we had moved to Germany for good back in 2011 but I came back for a contract which was extended until December this year. It's the language that is holding me back but because I've had to work in English speaking working environments it means that I've had little chance to develop my language skills.

At least anything coming from the UK will be covered by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights (ECHR) now we are out, before, rules could be made by the EU that is not bound by the ECHR, other than self regulation which is a joke ...

You do realise that one of the things that insensed the Brexiteers was that the UK has to follow the ECHR.

It really depends where you end up. I know quite a few people working here (HD) in science+technology with initially negligible German language skills.

Quelle Suprise, that individual Tories would have used this as a cynical ploy to manoeuvre themselves into (temporarily) better positions.

I could bore you with pages of explanation that banning virtual any expression about a product that has been accepted by many, including UK public health, from being discussed across all media, is a Human Right violation.

It is accepted that vaping is 95% safer than smoking, and could save billions of lives, but it loses lots of tax revenue for the EU indirectly.

If a nation tried to ban freedom of expression they would be in deep water, yet the EU can do it with virtual impunity.

If you wish to be dictated too by such a dictatorship OK, but I don't .... even if it costs me in other aspects of my life.

Just to add, I took two nations, the UK and the Netherlands through the Commission of Human Rights when their laws caused my "bastard" daughter to be stateless in the 1980's ....

If those causes had been the EU I would have only the EU to complain too ... and believe me they have processes that are a joke when complaining to them ....

There are good things about most dictatorships, but that doesn't make up for the fact you can't challenge their failings
