It's not Trump fear mongering to point out that he's Anti-LGBT, while Hillary is pro-LGBT. She pledged to sign the employment anti-discrimination act. Sure, she didn't always support LGBT, but neither did Obama. Neither did a lot of people since the 90's. As has been pointed out, a lot of people change their goddamn mind. They evolve on the issue. She's also pro-choice. She supports raising the minimum wage. Apparently because she isn't perfect, she's 'as bad as trump'. Yeah, there's a lot of shit I disagree with her on. There's also a lot of shit I agree with her on, so I'm fine with her being President.

Besides, why is Donald Trump's nuke position being brought up in a discussion about whether Hillary will stick to her support about LGBT rights? You brought up Hillary's views on bombing. It seems to me that you hold that position against her, but overlook Trump's willingness to use nuclear weapons in Syria. I don't believe that Hillary cares about a position she barely has held. Presidents aren't dictators, they have to prioritize what they can get done. Obviously gay rights aren't a priority for Hillary. I don't know that you can make that judgement on the basis of the information you have at hand. You could be right. You could also be wrong. Could it be that the best selling point for Clinton is fear mongering over Trump? You brought it up. Why are you now complaining about it? If you didn't want to discuss it, you shouldn't have brought it up. Just a thought. (June 30, 2016 at 10:46 am)CapnAwesome Wrote: In that case your cadidate sucks. I've already said above who I'll vote for, in all likelihood. It's neither Trump nor Clinton; Clinton is only my second choice if needed to help keep Trump out of office. And two realistic ones.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

She shouldn't get any free pass, but that's just how it is. she's still a hell of a lot better than Trump. I'm not an American citizen but I know for sure who my vote would go to if I was. And four choices? Who are the other two? The Libertarian Party and the Green Party? Basically your other choices have absolutely no chance of winning. As Steel says, you guys have two realistic ones. For the record, I don't like her that much and certainly don't think she's perfect but come on, she's up against Donald fucking Trump! Even I've realised this. I would say there's only one realistic choice.

The more people vote for Green and Libertarian candidates it sends a message that people are unhappy with the status quo. If there was ever an election to vote for them it would be this one. Donald and Hilary are the most disliked candidates to ever run for president.
There are millions of people who will only be voting for Donald because they hate the name Clinton more. If people keep thinking only the Republican and Democratic candidates can win then they always will win. The defeatist mindset is exactly what the party elites want. That's why they exclude anybody besides Republicans and Democrats from the presidential debates. They want you think that you only have two options. I think people are sending the message that they are unhappy with the status quo, and the result is Donald Trump and almost Bernie.
The underlying problem is and will remain the amount of money changing hands in politics. If we curtail that, then we can have people less interested in the power and favors that come with political office. Until such time, it won't matter how many people vote for the Green Party or the Libertarians, because the majority of this country can easily be polarized and whipped into a frenzied hatred like all of us here. There is no reason that it should cost almost a billion dollars to run for president. Our culture has to change, and I don't see that happening.

I was under the impression Donald Trump is the sort of candidate Fox News (and others) have been telling people they need to vote for (for many years now) and Donald was quite a nice fit to who Fox News's would say is their ideal candidate. So people voted for the candidate they were told they should vote for. Donald is a creation of the cooperate media if you will. And now a lot of people who created Donald, and that have been saying he is the sort of person you need to vote for are regretting it. But I suppose being sick of the system is also a valid reason people like Donald.
And just to add, a billion dollars is a lot. In England, no political party even came close to spending £20 million nationwide (though there is a current scandal about undeclared expenses). I am so glad I don't have to put up with all that money. |
