So are Canadians and Mexicans. And Brazilians, and Nicaraguans, Peruvians, Argentinians - and so on. Just saying.

The whole point of names are to call someone what they want to be called. Someone introduces themselves as Mandy but you know their name is legally Amanda you don't call them Amanda you call them Mandy as they asked. People of the United States of America call ourselves American so we should be called that by everyone. The whole calling Asians oriental is wrong not because it is racist but because they don't call themselves that. Oriental means from the east and someone in Asia wouldn't consider themselves the east from where they are therefore they wouldn't call themselves oriental meaning others shouldn't.

When talking about countries the Canadians and Mexicans and such have their own country names and are called by those names. Also you don't say hey I'm American when talking about continents you say I'm North or South American because leaving out the north or south leaves way too much open. I have literally never heard anyone say they were American and weren't from the US (and my fiancé's family are native Peruvians) The whole world knows that the term American means from the US and to call us something we aren't named is just snobbish. You don't see people from Namibia claiming to be South African just because they are in the south of Africa. No that name is reserved for South Africans from South Africa. Our name actually has the word America in it so it makes sense to name us Americans. If someone needs to specify that we aren't in fact Canadian they could use the word Canadian to talk about Canada or Brazilian for Brazil. Cause that is in their respective names.

Now, calling it a contribution is irrelevant as political contributions are not tax deductible anyway so this is all a rather pointless money-laundering scheme.  I suppose it will enable him to point to his suddenly "improved" fundraising which was pretty dismal up to this point and is still pretty dismal if you consider the source of this $46.1 million.  I imagine only the dumbest of Drumpfucks would be conned by this.  Wyrd?
So if Trump wins with a much smaller organization and with less money will you admit that he's a better manager than Hillary?

No.  It will simply be a testimony to the stupidity of his supporters.

Not a big deal. People make a big deal out of everything that Trump does and blow most things way out of proportion. I'm more concerned about his shitty ideas and the fact that he's not qualified to be president.

There is this very strange psychological effect that people have where when they dislike someone they tend to believe everything bad that's said about that person. That's why you see so many strange and irrelevant hit pieces on Trump. I wish people would stick more to ideas and facts, but whatever, I'm not voting anyway.

I know that my vote will be wasted and the same as not voting but I can't abide by standing to the side and not voting. I really like the Libertarian Gary Johnson and he will be my vote. The more I hear about him the more I like him. A few of my friends agree but most don't know who he is. The whole situation is just sad.

Sure, but if Mandy asks to be addressed as - say - Female, because she's the only woman to call herself that and I can differentiate between her and other women, by calling others by their actual names - I'm going to laugh in her pretentious little face... Tongue

South America and North America are both called "America". People who live on those continents are collectively called "Americans". It makes sense, when creating a thread addressed to citizens of - specifically - USA, to be adequately specific in the choice of words, rather than just using one that can refer to all the inhabitants of continents called America.

Of course had I made this thread, I'd have used the correct word, one I often hear people born in USA use to describe their nationality - "'Murricans". Smile

I, for one, resent being called an american.  I'm a hillbilly, and our peoples have been brutally oppressed by the americans since their coup,  in the name of cheap energy.  They press us into service and spend our lives before their own, while maligning our very culture, a culture that enriches and even defines their own manufactured identity on the global stage.

Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

First yes Murricans work lol I agree with that.

Second it is more than just figuring out who they are talking about. It is about calling things what they are in the proper way so that you don't come off as an ass. The example you gave is more like three girls all being named Amanda legally but one is Amanda Lea, one is Amanda Marie, and one is just Amanda. Amanda Marie and Amanda Lea are like hey I go by Lea and Marie while just Amanda says no my name is Amanda I don't have another name to go by. But instead someone is like well your full name is Amanda Mooney so I will call you AM... but my name is Amanda and I want to go by Amanda. Too bad there are other Amandas. But they said they would go by other names that specify who they are. Doesn't matter when I say Amanda you will all look. But if I'm the only one going by Amanda... DOESN'T MATTER I have given you a new name and that's all there is to it. So in the end Lea and Marie (ie Canada and Mexico) get to go by what they want and the one that doesn't have another name to go by gets theirs picked for them. It's similar to the Native Americans/Indians but that is a whole other rant of mine. Point is you call someone by what they want to be called. We call ourselves American we should be called American. What you call the other "Americans" like Canada and Mexico has nothing to do with us.
