Fucking Windows 8/8.1

To be honest, my wife's new desktop came with Win 10.  For what she does it with it, it works fine.

Is a blank DVD necessary for downloading Windows 10? I thought I could download it straight from here onto my PC:

You can simply upgrade. But word of advice. After the upgrade is complete, as I said, create a system disk. On a blank DVD, of course. It was the first thing I did after the process was complete. There is this file afterwards, containing all the necessary data. Since it's 6 months by now and I don't need it anymore, I have long forgotten how the disk creation process works. But it was a few easy steps to create a disk image that could be burned to serve as a system disk. Google it, there are tons of information on how it works.

Windows FUCKING 8.

It forced me to update to 8.1 The update kept failing and it took a whole day to actually get it to update... then it was working fine, for a few days. And I was like "phew".

I shut my computer down last night and it wanted to do updates so I left it to do updates.

I woke up to discover it never finished the updates.... and it was an update loop where it would keep failing to update and then it would say "Undoing updates" and then restart and then fail the updates and undo them all over them again.

I had to refresh my PC back to Windows 8.

For fuck's sake.... now guess what I am afraid of? It fucking forcing Windows 8.1 update all over again... and then a few days later failing updates again and it gets stuck on another fucking update loop.

Offer for free upgrade to Windows 10 ends on the 29th of July... so I have three questions.

1. Do I need a CD to download the Windows 10 update after I have finally updated to 8.1 again?

2. Is Windows 10 less shitty and fucked up than Windows 8 and 8.1?

3. If it's just as shit, is there a solution to all these failed fucking updates and the restarting and failing and restarting and failing over and over?

Computer is brand new that's the thing DBP. It's a softwhere problem and I have since refreshed my PC. Steel said he is 100% certain it was Avast

All I can add is that I hate Windows 8. I'd have Windows 10 instead anyday.

I hope it works out okay!

It's a beauty... but didn't work very well on my fedora 20... Maybe I'll give it another try when I upgrade to fedora 24...

LOL, I ragequit Fedora 3 years ago. Back then it was very apparent that Fedora was an alpha for their enterprise products. I imagine it's better now.

I likewise ditched Ubuntu for Mint in 2012, except for server installations.
