Obviously you haven't done any research at all because otherwise you would have found the literal millions of independent first-hand accounts of Jesus finding people's keys.
I am John Cena's hip-hop album.

Timeshare ... an up and coming con religion selling a time dependent dream  .....

They just haven't realized yet that if they sell the timeshare dream for after their customers death they will have no comebacks ....

The good thing about a timeshare religion is you can give deeds to those that buy into the different afterlife dreams.

Great for the sales team priests as they can sell afterlife depending on their flocks budget, from crappy religious heavens to magnificent heavens with a seat next to any God they desire .... AND ITS AN INVESTMENT

Not only can they buy in, they can upgrade if they get more money or sell if they have a disaster ...

Even the poor can buy after-life timeshare equipment such as flame retardant suits, but plugs, plasters, bandages, Paracetamol, etc, etc ...

PS, looking for a sales team priests, ministers Popes, Deacons, Nuns, monks, Dalai Lamas, Abbots, Abbesses, Apostles, Sons and daughters of Gods, Prophets, Preachers, Reverends, Bishops, Archbishops, Chaplains, Cardinals, Cannons, Priors, Gurus,  Swamis, Ayatollahs, Muftis, Mullahs, Rabbis, Brads, Druids, Magicians, psychics, Astrologers, Witches, Warlocks, water diviners, etc, etc, etc, etc
Religion is the top shelf of the supernatural supermarket ... Madog

So god's gift to the correct religion is... giving people the power to persuade others to join it? That's it?

And when another religion becomes more popular, the previous one was... what? Wrong all along? One God dies and another is born?

You would have to examine why Christianity is more compelling than the rest. I articulated my thoughts on this in a thread not too long ago.

Why would I have to examine that? I'm observing that being a member of the religion has no noticeable difference to not being one. The fact that people get drawn into it is irrelevant. There's plenty of good explanations as to why they do, none of which have any bearing on the benefits it actually produces.

I know there are promises about the next life. But it's usually claimed that it also has at least some effect on this life. I'm observing that it doesn't.

Rob, since there are no real practical differences between all the religions and the not religious, it's popularity must be due to the unmeasurable benefits.

Eg: finding peace, being consoled, hope, feeling comfortable that there one day be justice, etc.
All religions need to scam without people realising they are being scammed.

Um, it isn't.  As a matter of fact jesusism is about as dumb as it gets.

Yeah. All of this can be explained easily without the religion having to have any actual truth at all. The fact that people from all different religions feel it should be a clue!

I really don't get how this doesn't bother people more. For me, I think it would be the thing that opened my eyes if I was indoctrinated as a child. I'd hope so, anyway.

RE: The real religion?
The most simplest proof is that god speaks to anyone from any religion.
He also says contradictory things to people.
So either God is a liar or there are many Gods or he doesn't exist.
Either way, it's all bad news for theists.
No God, No fear.

What would we expect to see from this? Let's pretend that one of these current religions is the real one.

Wouldn't it be absurdly obvious which one this is? Wouldn't those following the correct religion have some sort of noticable advantage? If God is doing anything at all in return for the worship it is receiving, wouldn't this be clear to all?

What I see is a bunch of people all claiming to have this amazing being on their side, yet none of them are any better off than any others because of it. I can only conclude that either none of them have it right, or God's blessings are so insignificant that I don't even notice them.

I would say it would follow that the one with the highest adult conversion rate would be the most compelling.

RE: The real religion?
Quote:There are 2.18 billion Christians around the world, up from about 600 million in 1910, according to a 2011 study by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life. But the world’s overall population also has risen rapidly, from an estimated 1.8 billion in 1910 to 6.9 billion in 2010. As a result, Christians make up about the same portion of the world’s population today (32%) as they did a century ago (35%).

Number of Christians Rises, But Their Share of World Population Stays Stable

Your figures are a charade.
