Other Forums you frequent?

RE: Other Forums you frequent?
I considered frequenting foto and astronomy forums, but many of them are so dominated by people with strong opinions and big mouths. It's always, Ok I consider getting a 9 inch telescope, what do you guys think. And then a bunch of people start lecturing how nothing short of a space telescope can beat their magical 2 inch APO refractor which even shows crisp images if you have the lens cap on, while all schmidt cassegrains have no contrast. Same with many fotography forums.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Does "universally hating the English" bring everyone closer together!  lol

Those damn English people are always confusing my accent with Irish for some reason too.  Tongue

Like WTF? I'm Glaswegian. I sound nothing like an Irish person.

I also got asked if I was Swedish by a waitress in Berlin. I don't know how it is even possible to mix up a Glasgow accent with a Swedish one, but there you go.

I was a regular on AF.com for 3/4 years before coming here. I also used to frequent somethingawful many a year back. I regularly visit car forums as well for maintenance and detailing information.

Where you spend your time online, will tell us a lot about yourself, your hobbies and your interests.

Tell us which forums you visit/(or used to) regularly.

I spend years on an Aussie car forum. The reason I left is because most acted like immature rude spoilt brats... They weren't even funny.
Very little moderating ...therefore every second post was racist, rude or just condescending in some way...

I then progressed to my current US mustang forum. Beautiful place! Except for one thing.
You cannot swear or talk politics or religion. It's become (compared to this place) like playschool! (like my old "polite thread"!)lol.
That's about it ...the other regular forum I visit is about custom roms for phones/tablets.

We don't realise how perfect we have it here. We are free to speak our mind here, and inversely, everyone else is also free to shoot you down!
This instills a sense of freedom, power but also total responsibility for our thoughts. I like it here exactly the way it is. A perfect balance.

You?

Let's see.... I've posted on MineCraft forums, a few food forums, a baiter forum (that was loads of fun).

For those that don't know what a baiter forum is it's basically a forum dedicated to hunting down those idiots from Nigeria who send spammy emails to people claiming they (the victim) are the benefactor of some dead dude who has 16 million dollars and it can all be yours for a modest fee of a few thousand bucks and a wire transfer. We call it a 419 scam.

A customer asked, "In what aisle could I find the Guinness?"
The shop assistant asks, "Are you Irish?"

The guy, clearly offended, says, "Yes I am. But let me ask you something, If I had asked for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian? Or if I had asked for German Bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German? Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog would you ask me if I was Jewish? Or if I had asked for a Taco, would you ask if I was Mexican? Or if I asked for Polish sausage, would you ask if I was Polish?"

The shop assistant says, "No, I probably wouldn't."

The guy says, "Well then, because I asked for Guinness, why did you ask me if I'm Irish?"

The clerk replied, "Because you're in a hardware store'."

LOL...I would have guessed you were Aussie even if you hadn't mentioned it. I lived over there (down there?) for a year and a half, working as a pilot for the royal flying doctors service. I love Oz.

I own a hotrod shop now, after retiring. I know what you mean about the mustang sites...things have gotten so heated here in the last few years that a lot of sites have prohibited religion and politics because it just always gets out of hand. They're trying to keep the topic on cars, and people are so worked up about politics right now that an innocent comment will cause a days-long cyber war. It's pretty crazy.

I'm brand new to forums. I joined two atheist forums in the last week, the other is dead as roadkill. That's it for me, I was always too busy for things like this.

Cheers!

Things are a lot more like they used to be, than they are now. Cool

As a technical Irishman, I approve of this message.

Evidently when you mix Cuban and Irish blood you get a Seth Rogen doppelganger.

I used to frequent a Final Fantasy/gaming forum but I've since stopped going since most of the members I liked moved on. At least I have them on FB.

I once joined Atheist Nexus maybe five years ago.
It was dead. I never went back.
Out of the blue last week I get a message asking for donations.
I said, fuck off you English bastards, you'll not be puttin' your bastard fingers on my legal tender'. :-)

I've considered joining a baiter forum. I enjoy destroying arseholes just for the fun of it.

I've been posting on the Elite Dangerous forum but there are so many childish and entitled idiots there. It's just a bloody game!

I actually need to find other forums though. I get so sick of the obsession with guns from the Americans on both AF and TTA. Or whatever scapegoat the Republican party has picked for the moment (currently trans-people now they have given up on demonising LGB). I enjoyed TTA for the chance to really brutalise theist trolls in innovative ways.

I used to post on housepricecrash.co.uk, which was interesting for tracking one of the biggest asset bubbles in history and allowed me to watch the crisis evolve years before anyone knew that anything was wrong. It was interesting trying to predict how the financial system would crash. It's still in the process of happening but so far I've been largely correct as a deflationista whereas most people assumed there would be hyper-inflation. I always thought that was only a possibility once deflation had taken its course and the central banks had became dependant upon quantitative easing. But if we don't find a new source of cheap energy, it may be a long while before deflation ends.

I also used to post on naturist forums but there's only so much you can talk about.
