At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Good for you Stimbo! Did this thread aid that enterprise to present any obstacles?

It does have a certain laxative quality, if that's what you mean.

The thread makes for a poor substitute for sanitary tissue, though - it's already got shit all over it.

The "Cultural Context" Excuse
I'm sorry; I know everyone wishes this thread would just die already, but EVERY TIME Huggy uses the words "meant" or "intended", he is calling this massive contradiction back into the light without any explanation, and I want to hear what it is:

"Did god not know until the moment he decided to create the world how humans would turn out? Because if he didn't; if there was ever a "time" when God thought things would go a certain a way and they turned out differently than he originally intended, then there goes "omniscient" right out the window.

Oh, and with it goes "omnipotent" as well. If God had an ideal; a vision for humanity, but failed to execute his creation properly (considering what a fucking disappointment we are, according to him) then...he screwed up. He screwed up twice in fact, if you want to consider that 'flood' mulligan he afforded himself. So...Not perfect, and not all powerful.

...the existence of free will makes no difference. You can't on the one hand say God knew we would fuck it all up because 'omniscience', but then turn around and say we fell from God's grace because 'free will'.

Free will was always part of the grand plan, right? So, God basically rigged humans with a wild card (on purpose) and then blamed us when the wild card backfired on him.God is in every way like Victor Frankenstein. We never asked to be created. But the real kicker is that instead of owning up to the fact that he fucked up by creating a species of unintelligible, immoral miscreants, he decides to trick us into thinking that it's all our fault we can never be good enough. He sets up this contrived and thinly veiled "test" of righteousness that he knows full well Adam and Eve cannot not pass, and then uses the result to lay life-long blame, guilt, and shame onto all of humanity."

God created everyone knowing full well the outcome (hence why the "lamb" was slain before the foundation of the world), That doesn't mean the outcome was according to his will. God already knew us, because we were part of him (just as Eve was taken from Adam's side, Jesus also has a wound in his side, representing the we are his bride and part of his body), but he desired to have fellowship with us on equal terms, hence why he made us in his own image, and gave us our OWN will.

God put Adam and Eve here and gave them the best protection that he could give them, which was his word:

"Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

As long as they stayed with the word they were fine, Adam could not be deceived but Eve being a 'part' of Adam meant she was a byproduct, she was not part of the original creation, therefore was susceptible to being deceived. Jesus was also tempted of the devil, but he stayed behind the Word replying: "It is written..." to every tactic the devil had, proving that the word is the best protection one can have.

While it is true God knew we were going to mess up, he loved us so much that he provided a way back before the world was ever created (remember when I said the the "lamb" was slain before the foundation of the world?). So you have every opportunity to change and live according to the will of God, but nooo, you CHOOSE to live according to your own will.

Even in the days of Noah he provided a way out, which was the Ark, anyone that wanted to escape could just get in. Jesus Christ is OUR ark, just get in...

If you don't want to get in, fine. Just don't blame your choices on God...

Glad to see you don't prescribe to any of that omni-silly stuff.
