Silly books about all the true christians getting sucked up into the sky by Jesus. Just pointing out that his mortal coil is still earthbound.

Actually
John of patmos wrote the original story line. Tim just framed in modern times.

Just like "The Late Great Planet Earth" and "A Thief in the Night". Personally, I think these kinds modern of interpretations are highly irresponsible because they trivialize a highly symbolic book and turn it into a materialistic scare story. It would actually be more interesting if they did it as an alegorical cartoon version showing actual locusts with human faces and scorpion tales etc.

A shame being brain-dead doesn't allow him to realise that he was wrong all along.

As I noted after the other mention here of LaHaye dying, I found his virulent anti-Catholicism refreshing.

Of course, as is typical in the protestant fundamentalist orbit, he never turned a critical eye towards his own beliefs, but a jaundiced view of the Catholic heresies is still a start on the road to atheism.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

What's refreshing about that? You wouldn't find it refreshing if McDonald went after Burger King, I assume. It's on the same lines, competing franchise, is all.

I'm weird like that.

I celebrate his going to heaven at last, and regret it couldn't have been much, much sooner.

Hardly. It is rather the reverse. Despite the difference in time of origin of each creed, Catholicism would be a step towards rationalism and atheism too large to be easily imagined by the casual bystander compared to the brand of fundamentalism he espoused.

A wider dissemination of how the Catholics are not doing their own religion correctly doesn't advance the Catholic hierarchy's marketability.

And a wider impetus to question other faiths might lead some folks into critical self-examination regarding their own faith's errors too.  Oops!!! We are criticizing the Catholics for not handling serpents and drinking poison, but WE'RE NOT DOING IT EITHER !!!!

Panic Panic Panic

The sort of carefully calibrated rationalism every faith uses to disparage, defend against, and poach from every other faiths have always served more effectively and pervasively to strengthen the hold of particular Faith's the user already holds, then to promote reflection about the problems of one's own faith.

It might have to be rated R though because of sexual content (Whore of Babylon) and graphic violence (Lake of Fire).
