Why are you Against Homosexuality (to theists)

It's a good thing I started thinking for myself, because I am what I used to hate. My new social group lets me be myself.

Yes, I was also very racist and homophobic.

Against blacks, Hispanics.

Mean to Jews, and Christians.

And hated homosexuals.

I've made many more friends after giving up the shitty theist theology.

You're 12, aren't you? Well, if you overcame all of this at that age, consider yourself lucky and feel free to give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

Granted, when I was 12, we wrote the year 1975, but gays were a joke for me. It took learning that my best friend actually was gay, some 15 years later, to get rid of these feelings.

Well alot of my female friends are lesbian/bi.

I also don't see anything wrong with this because of the society I grew up in (New York... Queenssss!!!!).

But my family really hates the LGBT community

Yes, but they are even more scared of those who they want to be different but are not.

I guess it's a lot easier to overcome these feelings today than it was when I was young. In the 70ies we didn't have the internet or gay pride parades being televised. It's a lot more normal, even more so since even many video games allow for gay romance these days. Which, by the way, I give the game industry credit for. Apart from the fact that we didn't have video games back then. Unless you count pong. Which seemed pretty advanced to me. Even if you wanted to watch porn, you had to enter one of these sleazy cinemas, since video was a thing of the future or the very rich. I can't stress enough how the world has changed in the last 40 years.

Like Chris Rock says, whoever you hate will wind up in your family.

When I was a Christian, I felt kinda embarrassed about the way other Christians treated gays. Especially when I saw a classmate wearing a t shirt that says "Jesus hates me." Still, it took several years to overcome 25 years of indoctrination that taught me homosexuality is a sin. I knew that to truly except people, that condescending attitude had to go.

I never was. You know, that was the time when all these classified ads were in the dailies about gay men (mostly men) seeking others for company. I remember my classmates and me making fun of two men being in bed together and doing what they do.

You know, there was this popular song by Boney M, called Daddy cool around '75, '76. I don't know if it made the hitparades in the US, but it was very popular in Europe. We retexted it to daddy "schwul", which is the German word for gay and laughed our asses off over it.

That's the attitude we had before we became card carrying Christians. You are two years ahead of me in age, and as a child I didn't associate gay behavior with sexuality. My first experience of overt femininity came from my uncle. He was a finger-snapping queen. I laughed at what I thought was his eccentricity. Not until I joined the Church did I encounter people who hated him.

RE: Why are you Against Homosexuality (to theists)
Many ethical systems base their ethic on obtaining the function of the human body (for instance, using science to understand the function of the body and hence the purpose or goal of it).

Homosexuality seems contrary to the function of the human reproductive system. It does not support life. As a result, there are (ethically significant) aberrations, such as men having sex with hundreds of partners (because of the way that the male reproductive system processes lust). This is something that societies are not used to having dealt with. As well, there are consequences for raising children with two men or two women because this is different from the way that humans are used to relating to a biologically driven process of mothering and fathering.

Theists are always against anything that makes them feel personally uncomfortable.

A guy kissing a girl makes me feel uncomfortable, but I am not going to make it my life's mission to ban heterosexuality.
