Well, of the 70,000+ schisms, we know for sure AT LEAST all but one aren't true.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

You see that tree over there....which branch is the true branch?

we can rule out the 100+ branches budding from the Joseph Smith Mormon limb . . .

Are you saying all versions of Christianity are true? Even ones that directly contradict each other?

Old untended trees, especially grafts, can give rise to many suckers. Those should be trimmed off.

I'm taking a survey which I hope might generate some thoughtful discussion.

How would you finish this sentence: "Christianity can't be true because..."

Answers I've heard before include:
-      Because there’s no such thing as truth.
-      Because the church has done horrible things.
-      Because the bible is anti-homosexuality.
-      Because the big bang disproves God.
-      Because evolution disproves the bible.
-      Because there’s no historical evidence for Jesus.
-      Because the bible has been changed over the years.d

Can you think of any others? Please comment. Thanks!
None of the above. Truth, meaning facts certainly exists whether we can discover it in any particular case.  Many horrible things have been done in the name of many religions  not just christianity.  That neither proves nor disproves  the existence of god.  The Bible has a couple anti homosexual verses.  That neither proves nor disproves god.  The big bang and evolution contradict the creation story in Genesis.   That demonstrates the Bible is not inerrant but it does not disprove god. Lack of hisorical evidence suggests but does not prove that either Jesus did not exist or was very different from the Jesus depicted in the Gospel (which contradict themselves anyway).  Changes to the Bible don't prove our disprove god either.

I don't believe in god because there is no compelling evidence for the existence such a being.

I believe Christians and Christianity exist.  They are all around me.  I don't believe their story in particular because their book is contradictory and not historical and very obviously a human rather than a divine tale.   As such it isn't very good evidence.  But supposing it were more historically and scientifically reliable, it still would not be sufficient evidence to belive in anything supernatural. I don't belive in alien abductions either. My reasons are similar, lots of story which contradicts everyday experience very little evidence.

Notice that the niceness of any proposed god or religion or alien abduction story is not evidence of that god's existence or the truth of that religion or abduction. Niceness is not an indication of truth. Horribleness is not an indicator of lack of existence.  Pink fluffy unicorns don't exist.  Ebola virus and Trump do.

Now, did anyone really give you any of the reasons in your OP for not believing in christianty? Or did you just hear them from other christians?
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I'm saying it's more nuanced than true/vs untrue.

Religion itself is a growth function of the human soul over time. Primitive humans had primitive religion because that's all they needed. And todays religions are largely unsatisfactory because they no longer meet our growing needs as a global mind.

A fruit bearing tree needs seasonal pruning or else branches will over-grow each other and cross to rub in the wind, weakening them both. New suckers left to sprout from the base will shoot straight up through the established canopy, take nutrients away from the whole tree, over-shadow the former canopy and usually bear thorns instead of fruit (citrus).

If the tree is left to grow too large, the fruit is largely unreachable by common man and no new trees can be grown in it's shadow. By then, with so many branch tips having brought nutrients so far, feeding all of the tree along the way, the fruit is small and dilute even if one can get to it. The bruised and unpalatable fruit piles up underneath these monolithic trees until the space below is more a home for flies and rats than people.

I'm saying you could learn a lot from a tree.

RE: Christianity Can't Be True Because...
Because it's self-contradictory?
Because there's no verifiable evidence of miracles or a resurrection?
Because bronze and iron age morality shouldn't/wouldn't be the standard of a perfect being?
Because a triune god makes no sense in monotheism?
Because for a purported perfect being, god sure is an inefficient, wasteful, cruel being that sucks at communicating with his creations?
Because I'm not five years old anymore?

EDIT: because salvation by proxy blood sacrifice (a temporary sacrifice at that) is equal parts abhorrent and actively insulting to my intelligence?

Label me as you will, it doesn't affect me. It tells me far more about you.
