Yes the concept has ancient origins. What I am point out is anything that is an infinite source fits in with this concept. If you had an infinite source of energy you can keep taking as much energy out and it will still remain infinite. That is it remains unchanged.

I wish I could play soccer like the Ronaldo and have his millions. I would give some to charity, some to educate. And some to some lonesome scientists, not bound by personal investment.

Why infinite?  Why not just seemingly infinite the way all this talk of years would seem to a mayfly?  While you're writing your fiction at least make it interesting.
