The video in the OP wasn't particularly enlightening which is ironic since the narrator complains about the "uneducated".
I thought it was incredibly condescending.

It's not cool to tar all country folk, hicks, rednecks, cowboys or your word of choice with the same brush. I'm from a rural town with a population 2,000 and if I weren't a starry-eyed teenager back in the day with dreams of living in Europe , I would probably also now be a hick, redneck or whatever word you want to use. Now I'm on the Left Coast and surrounded by Priuses and tree-huggers but I still care about my old friends who, yes, are hicks and rednecks. Yet they are hard-working salt-of-the-earth types who are doing the best they can to raise and support their families.

So instead of lumping all rural white folk together with uninformed Youtube videos, why don't you put the video down and talk to a few of them. You might be surprised.

Why don't you post about your own personal experiences? This is far more interesting than a YouTube video.

Nothing is wrong with hippies, actually I have enough hippy tendencies to say I could be a tree hugger. I do LOVE the whole no plastic bags law that Austin has implemented and a lot of people complain about it. I make our household recycle and I will pick up trash off the ground if I am walking by it... and I've been known to flip people off and honk at them if I see em throw a cigarette butt on the ground. I just don't like Austin because it is too... should I say it... weird? lol It's the only real city I've lived in (technically I don't live in city limits I live on the outskirts) but it's still enough that I miss small towns where going to HEB means you hafta duck to avoid people you don't want to talk to because you ALWAYS run into someone you know.
