I live in a large household with many Xers. I have decided to be a kind atheist because I do not need religion to be kind. Now if I were mean by nature, I would just go ahead an be a bastard.

So, a band is coming over to chat with family. Every sentence and every comment will be puncuated by god talk .

"Delicious water, Millie!"
"Yes, God made it perfect, didn't he?"
"OH, our taxes went up."
"There will be no taxes in Heaven."

So I am sure I will be back to decompress. When I first walked away from the CHurch, whistling a happy tune, Xers did not bother me so much.

HOwever, now I am finding them to be VERY maddening. Blocking science, making women stay with bastards, and making kids into drones.

I might just spend the day holed up in my room with no food or water for the day...........

Why? Do you have the misfortune to be related to them or dependent on them?

I can be kind or a complete bastard,as the situation requires, but am innately neither. The situation you described would require me to at least ask the annoying twat(s) to keep their personal superstitions to themselves.

At work, I once got a happy clappy co-worker to desist from loud "Praise the Lords!" by threatening to punch his lights out.

Yes, I am both dependent and related to them. It is OK during the downtimes. One of them does not mind the fact that I argue religion with her a lot. SHe is a kind, open soul who is sincere and non-iritating. But when visitors come by! Damn nearly daily.

I usually just leave unless there is something drawing me to the conversation or even curiosity. I feel sorry for some of them .

So it's a mix.

But yes, I am related to many of them.
