Hahaha, yes, they're horrid, we see that -as outsiders-....he doesn't, as an insider.  Happens all the time, particularly so with religious narratives.  No one;s insulting your intelligence....at least not on purpose.  Wink

Would you stop it with the double standard because he's Muslim?

I mean you'd be all over him for those lines if he were a Christian. I respect him enough to treat him like I would a Christian. Why? Because he seems very reasonable and nice for a person who believes in such horrifically disparaging ideas regarding his fellow humans. If I considered him to be even slightly mentally incapacitated I would treat him with kid gloves, like you do. Do you see him as such, perhaps?

EP, we know Rayaan for a long time. He has been a just Admin on this site and we are not having a double standard. We know he's muslim but the best muslim evar™. The only thing is that he needs to smile more.

Please do not escalate this into one of your dramas. This is not about you so peace dude.

My favourite person from the Ummah on this website is actually Atlas...but I'll entertain you with a question or two anyway.

Are you aware of how much the religions of "Abraham" borrow from the ancient Zarathurstian tradition that can before them? I can do a long list if you like. It's the first monotheistic religion but the massively ignorant Arab invaders of Persia called them "Pagans" (which would mean the Quran is full of Pagan tradition according to them).

2. Where the the evidence showing the Kaaba was built in ancient times, like the Quran claims? At which point in history did it cease being used by "Hanif" (monotheists)? I would love to know the answers.

I don't get it. It sounds pretty messed up to me. What kind of God manipulates people into worshipping him? If you genuinely don't have a choice, you sound like a slave. If I believed Islam was "true", I'd still want no part in it at all. As long as I had any say over my own actions, that would continue to be the case. I guess if God wanted to manipulate my mind so I no longer had proper control, he could do that.

I'm putting this forward again in case it got overlooked.

I wasn't being dramatic in the least. As far as I knew, I was merely having a conversation about his religious views. Him being nice doesn't prevent me from criticising his stated beliefs, nor should it. That's precisely the kind of double standard I was talking about, though it seems to take another form with you.

One has to be able to distinguish between criticism of one's ideas and criticism of one's character. I wasn't engaged in the latter and you'd know that perfectly well if you cared enough to look past your own bias against my character.

Anyway, if it wasn't perfectly clear, I like and respect Rayaan as a person, that's beside the point however and it shouldn't be stated over and over again. That's disrespectful in itself, I think. Rather, I respect him enough to be able to point out any disagreements I have with him openly.

Sorry for giving the appearance of precipitating a derail, however. Rayaan hasn't responded to my initial replies, so it seems this discussion came to a halting stop even before it began.

Have a nice day, now, everyone. Carry on as if nothing happened, if you please.

Kudos for remembering that. Tongue

Your belief in Islam never really bothered me. To be honest, I think I find 9/11 conspiracy theories harder to believe in than God.

Then again, once you have god belief under your belt, perhaps it doesn't seem like such a reach to find conspiracies everywhere.

But I have a question for you Rayaan.  Why do you think you're so lovable?
