So, I heard that the UK is, finally, moving to polymer notes for their currency. It only took them 24 years longer than Australia! I remember being a kid in primary school when some bloke from the RBA presented the polymer technology to us ahead of its launch at an assembly. It's one of, well one, memorable moments from my childhood school assemblies!

Above I have a look at our $5 notes (including the new one released by the RBA in September), and later in the video I have a look at some cheap and nasty looking paper money, that apparently passes as being real currency in some parts of the world! The most notable thing, and I'm happy that this is clearly visible in the video, is that the "security strip" in the same denomination notes looks completely different in each note! What the Fuck??! Seriously had I not handled them myself I would not have thought that level of variability in genuine banknotes should be observed. Have a look and see for yourself, video above.

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
