We're always dealing with the repercussions of our previous actions, it seems. It's like holding a tiger by the tail. It was a mistake to grab it in the first place, but there never seems to be a good time to let go.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Similarly here in the land of religious nuts we have to expect a more iffy transition of political power from one regime to the next thanks to the 600 pound orangutan that is corrupting our system.

Do you have a recipe on how to cook them?
Not much prep involved. They almost always have the courtesy to serve themselves up as a briefly seared steak tartare spread for a party of 30 or more. They'll even prepare it right in front of you at your table! Kinda like a middle eastern Benihana. Good luck!

I'm confused by the word "expect". Hasn't this already happened?
Maybe I don't understand "influx".

The tale is always the same.
Something happens, there will be danger. Yes, there's danger, but the tales of be afraid, be very afraid were always used to chip away at another bit of our civil liberties. As long as we're ruled by forces that can be called democrats, however much I despise them, it's a nuisance. But if we get our very own Orbans or Kaczynskis, it's a clear and present danger for everyone opposing the regime. And that's a very real possibility in some of our countries.
I have to say I'm more afraid of some wannabe dictator taking over than I am of some nebulous terrorist threat. Maybe because I've grown up with terror. Maybe because I value my liberties more than the ghost of security.
